Age-Gaps, and Inter-Office Romance

Links and other hanky panky that doesn't have to do with anything in particular.

JB is absolutely WRONG. Give it a little more time before you make a move, but remember, it is never going to be more appropriate for you to date an 18-year-old than RIGHT NOW.

That's a pretty sizable gap to deal with. Think of it this way. When she was enjoying kindergarten, you were thinking about high school. Some people can deal with those huge generational gaps, most cannot.

Don't think of it that way at all! Think of it this way: she is old enough to buy cigarettes, vote, fight in a war and, according to Wiki pedia, bear arms, own property, marry without parental consent, get an abortion, donate [her] body to science, serve on a jury and be tried as an adult. I'm sure she's old enough to reject you...er, I mean, date you as well.

I don't wanna seem ageist. I'm just saying it's a hard gap to deal with.

The math is complicated here, but remember: ten years from now you will be thirty-seven and eighteen-year-olds will still be eighteen. It ain't gonna get easier, is all.

Age shouldn't be your first concern, whether you think she likes you should be your major concern. You can ask out whatever age, but if they don't like you, it's not gonna happen. I'd wait a few more weeks, see if she's interested, see if you're still interested, then just be casual about it. I'd be creeped out if some older guy I've only said hello to for 10 days was all "Hey, so let's go get coffee!" (Now, if they were nice, and I liked them, and everything clicked, then it would be distinctly less creepy, though still a little creepy...)

Is she an 18 year old in high school, or an 18 year old in college? I think the high school thing is what would push it into 98% creepy territory.

That's what I was saying!

See, Bjam is an enlightened female. Although she is right about the HS thing. Especially if your new job is PE teacher at the local high school. That would be wrong. Wait until she graduates.

Oh gee. Well, yeah, wait for her to graduate, I'd say (which is in what? like two weeks?) I don't know all the specifics, but trust me, most high school girls are not worth the bother. At least they usually grow up a bit after graduation.

I dated a young un once. If you can get past the age differences, it can work. I sure couldn't. One day I said "Know what I mean, Vern?" And she said "Why the hell do you keep calling me 'Vern?'"
Plus she thought Brian Johnson was better than Bon Scott. (that's a paddlin!)

You're a 27 year old bagboy. She's 18 and is a cashier (which I'm pretty sure pays more). Do you even have a car? Is it as nice as hers? I know it sounds like I'm coming down on you really hard here, but I just want to put things into perspective.

I understand this is Kansas and maybe that stuff flies, but it seems obvious to me that a genuine relationship or whatever you seem to be interested in is completely out of the question. Let it go.

27 yr old. 18 yr old. Different places in life completely. You think you had it bad with your WoW playing ex. You could get burned a second time expecting more out of an 18 year old high school senior.

Grounds for burial!

Rone, she is only missing a third of your age.
Or: you are only half again older than her.
I'd call it maybe a bad idea, but probably not regrettably bad.

I say drop the chick habit and focus on your rapping career.

I think Dr House said it best.
Theirs a lot of internet porn out their, and its not going to download itself.
