The Black Sabbath drum sound

Specifically as heard on the album Paranoid. It's so crisp. How can it be replicated?

Well, from my point of view, Ward would play very closely with the bass and guitar giving an intense punch and drive to the music. Then he would add a lot of fills and rolls that gave killer energy to the music. He loved his snare and did a lot of flam fills and double stick hits, which Dave Grohl and so many duplicate. I myself use this style in my heavier music because I love the energy and drive it gives.

As far as sound, hmm. I would think one would have to either get some vintage studio equipment or find the equivalent in digi. The rest can be achieved in simple EQing. I know I can make any snare sound like 20 different models just with EQ techniques, so Id say that would be the trick.
