Remix "The Prayer" by The Bloc Party

Post by Tex Beaumont »

JJJ radio in Australia is having a competition to remix The Prayer by The Bloc Party.

All the tracks and stuff can be downloaded from here:
http://www.triplejunearthed.com/competi ... itionId=52

I've never done this sort of thing - so I'll have a go (just remembered I forgot all about the Lily Allen remix thing that CHack suggested...damn).

You probably need to be Australian if you want to enter the JJJ competition (you would have to be in Australia to get the prize if you won, in any case...though I would be happy to held out anyone who wants to lie in their registration and pretend to be Australian). But if anyone else wants to treat it as a side fight - post remixes here by 8 July.

i've started on an entry for this. Though i found just going through all the different samples interesting. Just listening to how they constructed and recorded the song.

Anyway, Ray, you are goin down!

Did anyone else have trouble importing the lead vocal, "vocal Stem" left and right? I didn't even know because I never listened to the original versions. Then after I finished my version, I listened to theirs and noticed they had lead vox, lol. I kind of thought the vox were weak, now I know why.

OK, here is my mix. Now to figure out where the hell to send it to. Prayer Remix
My favorite change is the vocal break towards the end. They should send me a kajillion bux for that alone. :P

added a couple guitars
added distortion bass
rearranged stuff
dropped parts out
changed fx
panned creatively
yada yada

Here's the original version of "The Prayer". Yeah, I remixed a bunch of pro studio tracks, whoopdy f**k'n do. But at least I squelched that horrible keytar, or what ever it's called.

Yes - it does reek a bit.

I must admit - I lost interest in this after a while - mainly because I don't like the original song much.

BTW: liked your's BLT. I don't know the original well - so it was hard to tell what was you and what was them - but there was definitely some guitar in there that was a big improvement on the original.

Oh, and you are now entered in the JJJ competition, as "Billy's Little Wallaby" - ...a homoerotic funk/ska fusion band from Brisbane.

Now I just have to find a good photo for your band profile

And - Oi, Sausage Boy! Where are you? Did you finish anything?

Because of it being a homosexual dance song, I left my parts pretty subtle and pushed back. Gay folks tend not to like guitars in their faces.

LMAO! I love it! If the song wins, you'll have to be the front man. Think up some crazy ass stuff to say when they interview you. "think Spinal Tap" Image

We can have someone that's good with Photoshop put our pictures on some cool Aussie background, hopefully with a combi somewhere in the picture.

Here is how I am going to dress up for my picture:
The groyt amadilluh huntuh (the great armadillo hunter)
Metal colander (spaghetti strainer) on my head
sunglasses with one lens broken out
Camo vest with lots of pockets
Leather lederhosen
Army boots
A batman utility belt, but with the following items hanging from it:
Kitchen tongs
Wallnut cracker
Bottle opener
Bolt cutters
Egg beater
Monkey wrench
Chapstick
Flask full of rum
Sling shot
boomerang
tazer
harmonica
walkie talkie
and a bottle of armadillo urine (bait)

Actually, I just made this up as I went along, but I'm laughing to myself picturing it. :P

John, I think you should do the Viking thing, lol. >> Image

I was just looking through the entries, and I can't find you guys. I wanted to give a good vote on them.
For instance, I don't see Sausage boy, nor how he named it, absinthes of failure, or what ever he wrote. Same with Caravan Ray. What the eff?

Abysmal? haha, I wrote absinthes up there ^^^ which is that liqueur that looks like anti-freeze.
...in it's plural form I guess.

By the way, I was looking HERE in the BPRMX list and I don't see any of us. But it is listed under your artist names. I gave us all 5 stars.
