today I have to buy some flour. unbleached. all-purpose. I am out. I'm also low on olive oil. tonight I want to make some apple strudel with the frozen puff pastry I bought the other day, so I need some granny smith apples, too. I hope they get Honeycrisp apples out soon; they are my favorite varietal. just saw Bing cherries out up here. mmmm.
tonight is my radio show! I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. listen online at http://kuoi.asui.uidaho.edu:8000/kuoi.m3u between 630-830 pm Pacific time.
on july 4, I'm going to Coeur d'Alene to party with some friends. on july 5, Chad from Booty Chesterfield is going to come by and visit. on july 6 I head to Jerome, Las Vegas, and then Los Angeles via car.
qotd: what is your favorite piece of clothing? personally I think my song fight boston shirt might win it, because of that logo on the front. I have a striped shirt--the one I wore during my set at santa cruz last year, and, ahem, at seattle last year and this year--that I like a lot too.

Tonight WOULD be my radio show, only the server is broken and I work a shift that's no doubt going to be insane. I am a hotel barman/waiter, and occasionally we have tribute acts play. Tonight is Robbie Williams. That might not mean much to those of you outside the UK, but trust me when I say it's going to be a nightmare for the staff.
QOTD: Tough call. I'd say it's a toss-up between my WWII army jacket that I found in a charity store that fits me like it was made for me and my Snakes On A Plane shirts.

My last work day before vacation. But vacation doesn't really start until Monday; tonight it's back up to The Balsams, Saturday is an afternoon show and my 20-year HS reunion, and Sunday kicks off the summer beach bar series at The Margate.
I just booked a couple July shows at Hampton Beach, and I put the contract for the Weird Al show at Meadowbrook in the mail today. Things happen fast and furious in the summer. Good thing; this past winter/spring was way too slow.
QotD: I'd also go with my SF05 shirt (brilliant work, C Hack), but I bought a Large, and well, it doesn't fit quite so well these days. Gotta do something about that. Well Hell, even if I don't wear it as often, it's still my favorite thing in the drawer.

Oy, sluggish today. Mrs. Rabid just got a check for a Playgirl article/sidebar, and we enjoyed the fruits of her labor at the local Morton's. Cocktails, a bottle of good wine, monster lobsters (Maine & Australian), and some kick-ass cake.
I'll be digesting for a week, heh.
QOTD: Jackets. All of them. From the korean-era army trench to the latest shapeless cheapie off the gap bargain rack--which strangely enough is also olive drab. The Pacific NW is a good place to have a jacket fetish.

sick.
stomach burning like it's on fire. I feel like I'm going to spew acid like any number of space aliens portrayed in sci-fi favorites. Everytime I breath all the way out I cough... including whenever I finish a long sentence such as this. *cough* Head is swimmy with 'almost fever'...can't concentrate.
qotd: I think I love my train conductor hat more than any other clothing I have. Its something I've worn, and replaced for years.

Oogh. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, Hoblit! There are lots of bugs going around here too.
This is a fun QOTD! I'm definitely a jeans and tee gal, most of the time... but I have a number of favorite "dress up" clothes.
- I cultivate a large collection of colorful striped socks/stockings. I get "Pippi" comments all the time -- or at least I did back when I had the long braids.
- I have these crazy metallic green cowboy boots that I've been living in for the past year or so. They are pretty fabulous.
- I'm very fond of these skirts I made recently -- pleated schoolgirl style with sheer panels behind the pleats -- I wore one of them to SF WestCoast 2007 Live.
So yeah -- one of those three is my "favorite" I suppose. Hard to choose.
I've been spending lots of time at the Platform Festival This week. I saw some amazing installations last night, including the most incredible three dimensional "zoetrope" I've ever seen.
It was a spherical armature that contained a sculpted animation cycle--probably about 24 "frames." The sphere spun on its axis, and was illuminated by a strobe light. The result was the illusion of a globe containing 24 "animated sculptures" forming a ring around a central figure.
(I'm utterly failing to explain this adequately... I'll post a link if I can find one!)

Today is rounding up to be a fun day. Got a bunch of happy letters in the mail(wedding invite from my Gran, t-shirt for a festival I'm going to in July, SAT results[super good!], and some letters from friends. Happy mail is always a good thing. I'm just finishing up Season 2 of The Office, and I'm about a quarter through HP5. Tonight will be Big Brother UK night(we download the episodes and watch them in the US evenings, it's a nice taste of home
)
QOTD: Man, I don't know. I love some of my Threadless t-shirts. But I'd probably pick a flowery halter dress thing that I have. I wore it at SF:PA (albeit with a t-shirt over the top since it was super cold) and considering I've had it a while it's still super pretty and flattering. I also love the 3 inch red heels that I can just about walk in but they look freaking amazing. The only problem is I tower over people in them since I'm already pretty tall :/ Yay clothes?

QotD: My "The Crow" t-shirt. I got it back when it was just a graphic novel.

I'm at home, so I get to hang out with my dog. My dog used to really skinny (this was three or four weeks ago). Now she's pretty fat. That was a very intense weight fluctuation.
qotd: My favorite piece of clothing is the pants that I mentioned in yesterday's qotd.

Update: The amazing 3-D zoetrope was titled "No Never Alone" and was created by artist Greg Barsamian from NYC.
Although this picture doesn't really do it justice... you have to see it in action!
Check it out!

(Or maybe my router just needs rebooting.)
Thanks Aunti-M...feeling better as the day goes by. Back pain subsides, stomach acids simmering instead of full boil, but I still have this nagging cough at the end of my deeper breathes. ech.
A hotel under construction went up in a 4 alarm fire today on a major road here in Tampa. Woot. No, not a Hilton

Oh wait, never mind, I just remembered you do.
.....oh yeah, and I'm married.
QOTD:
As I said yesterday, I like my bowling shirts. But I also like my shoes. I have a weird obsession with cool shoes and boots. Not like Imelda Marcos or anything. I need clean shoes ALL the time and when I go out, I need my shoes to fit my emotion or attitude, not my attire. I'm really picky about flip flops too. I pretty much only like brown leather Rainbow Sandals. I don't like Birkenstock's or any rubber type thing.

My Akubra Cattleman. I have been a hat wearer for almost 20 years. My hat accompanies me everywhere - it is on my head every second of daylight hours that I am outdoors. 2 years living on the equator and 2 years living in the Queensland outback has made that second nature to me. I feel weird being outside without it on my head. It makes me stand out a bit in places like Sydney or Melbourne (or Santa Cruz*) - but hat people are fairly common in Brisbane, especially in summer. And further north and west of Brizzy, where I have spent a lot of time living and working - everyone wears hats.
I used to wear the Akubra Squatter - a more urban style hat, but that also seems to be the favoured hat of PM John Howard - so I certainly won't wear that one anymore. I moved onto the more rural style "Cattleman" when I moved to The Isa - and have worn it ever since. (I used to work in the office block next toQueensland Premier Peter Beattie - another "Cattleman" wearer. I would often see him in the street - and we would share that quick nod of acknowledgement of each other's excellent taste in headwear).
Each hat will last about 1 or 2 years in the bush, or maybe 3 or 4 years in the city (sadly - with wear, especially in hot sun - the felt hardens and shrinks). I usually always have 2 on hand. The older one will be for work purposes - and the newer one will be my "dress up" hat.
(*Actually - I don't think it did make me stand out in Santa Cruz. Lot of freaking weirdos in that joint. Great place, I loved it! Gotta go back there one day)

My favorite clothing? Gotta be my Frank Zappa t shirt. My friend stole it from a chick in San Diego. He used the shirt he was wearing as "the clean up rag" and needed a shirt. So he took it.
I saw him wearing it and I said "Cool, Frank Zappa." He said "Is that who this is?" So I (rightfully) took it from him.

I have a coat with a sailor flap in the back that doesn't really fit me, but on the flap is a huge heart and it says "I'm hers because she appreciates PERFECTION!" But in terms of what I actually wear, I'm most comfortable in my Refused t-shirt with the sleeves cut off and my plaid pj pants.
Today was another day of crazy kids at dino summer camp. No camp next week so that's nice, plus I'll get an extra day off. Tonight I will eat chicken enchiladas and watch Marathon Man. Also, I've started an exercise regimen and have been losing hella weight. I still drink beer, though. And my new medication so far hasn't caused any severe problems. That is pretty much my entire life right now, I'm sure it was a thrill for you to read.
