Hey folks. I'll fill y'all in on the wonders of my day later when there are wonders to report.
QotD:
The Roll Call thread has given us a different perspective on the members of SF. So my question is, if all the members of SF had reality shows, whose show would you watch?

I'm still kind of the new guy here, so I don't know everyone enough yet, but I do admit I like Billy's take on alcohol, and would definitely say that would make for some good Reality TV.

Naturally I'd watch all the Californian and New Yorker's reality show. Or perhaps a SF'r who travels alot. Nobody particular though. MCFrontalot? Perhaps that would be a good show just for the internet superstar struggle.
My late teens and early 20's would have been a great show to watch... and the spin off would have been my late 20's. 31+ (now 34) show cancelled.
Thursday, and they are talking about my 90 day review which they are going to do at the end of this month. They say they are pleased with my performance and want to discuss my future with them. (Tampa Bay DSL) Like I said, shows over... real life setting in.

QOTD: If the HipCola and Luke Henley collaborated again, as they did once, that'd be the show I'd watch. It would have a complex, dramatic story line, be very spooky and have well-polished cinematography, I'd imagine. Since the HipCola is involved, there would probably also be hot, steamy erotic scenes, as well...

Well, if there was a SF'er who had a morning talk show about adult situations, it would be "BJ-am" and I really think I'd be watching.
It's a bad pun. But it works, gimme a break.
Ok, seriously, I wouldn't watch any one person. We're all pretty damn interesting in this environment, but repetitively watch ONE sfer?? Maybe a show about mixing and recording techniques, hosted by Puce and Des with occasional guest spots from various knowledgeable blokes and of course, the weather, as presented by Sven cause I think his caustic nature and combative personality would make GREAT weather forecasts.
I await the assault of commentary.
In other news, I am half way through a week off work. I got a hold of the local building inspector and found out I don't need any building permits to convert my 24 x 26 building into a .... sound-resistant studio... now all I need is a whack of money to do so...
I am going to remove the garage door super quick though, now that I know I can without suffering the wraith of bylaw officers. That thing acts like a huge fuckin amplifier. If I play my system at 90 db (measured from 4 feet away from the speakers, at the 60 degree axis point where the stereo image meets) and I go outside, the sound escaping hits about 58 from the door, and from the wall outside, around 58-62. If I go to the freaking garage door and measure, it hits 68-75!! So, filling that thing in will definitely make my neighbours happier when I drum. I did measurements a few weeks ago of each wall and corner of the building while I drummed, and it seems most of the building reduces the db by about 20, except that damn door. I plan on building a new wall in front of the current one (although I will remove the interior drywall to avoid the whole three leaf..heh. heh. ..concept) to create a heavy, foot thick wall. That should ...theortically reduce my escaping db by about 40-50 db at least, and that's gonna be enough to allow me to play late...
As it is, no one complains, but then again, Im super paranoid about pissing off the neighbours... I wouldn't want them running lawn mowers at 10 pm, so I'm sure they don't want to hear drums then!!
Ahh... I ramble as usual. Back to you Sven, with the weather.

Not even 11:30am yet
I'm hungry as heck
Feeling something cheesie
Something burgery
Perhaps double patty..eee
Carl's super star sounds like the answer
Yep, super star with extra mayo for slipperiness
Better get something healthy with that for balance
I'm feeling fried zucchini
With ranch to dip it in
Ah, a milkshake to get my dairy requirements
That pyramid picture with the food groups
Vivid in my mind from young education
I loved lunch
I went to school just for lunch
The rest of the day was just filler
QOTD:
Definitely Caravan Ray OR Paco Del Stinko. In fact, Stinko Del Ray would be must see TV. It would be a parody of "the OC" or "laguna beach" with two zany guys. One semi pro water polo player (Ray) and his chubby drinking buddy (Paco) set out on daily adventures along the coastal cities of the world to find the best bars, taverns, pubs and the colorful local patrons that inhabit them.

I wish I had enough money/time to make a SF documentary. I'd travel to a bunch of SFer locations in the US and Canada and show how they write and record, and what the rest of their lives are like. And the whole thing would end at the annual SFLive event. And then for the sequel I'd go to the UK and France and Australia and other SFer points abroad. That would be a fabulous way to spend a year or two.
Now that I think of it, though, a good number of us probably have DV cameras, hmm? If a bunch of us shot our own footage, and then sent it all to me on DVDs, I could futz around with it for a long long time and maybe make a movie. That would be a less fun but still pretty rewarding thing to do.

Damn Jim, that is a very cool idea. You traveling would probably require a studio grant, and I don't think you could sell it. But the "do your own and send it in" footage sounds feasible. Maybe after you had the first one in the can, you could then sell it to a studio and get paid for your European sequel.

I was seriously thinking what a fantastic idea that was myself before reading your post too.Billy's Little Trip wrote:Damn Jim, that is a very cool idea. Today I did absolutely nothing. Now I'm at work.
qotd: I would watch my own reality show. Seeing myself on screen would motivate me to do actually do something entertaining, therefore making my life less dull.
Though, I don't know if I'm technically a songfighter anymore. I haven't entered a fight since last November. When is someone no longer a songfighter I wonder?
Also, I think I'd want to watch Mo's reality show. Mo's mythology is so huge that it guarantees to be entertaining even when nothing is happening.

Aw, thanks Jack! I think the show might get old after watching the adults fight to take naps and the kids fight to not take them!jack wrote:qotd: the redmons. the rockinist family in minnesota.
it could just be called "the hell yeahs".
I think there should be a west coast SF reality show. I'd watch that... from the Canadians all the way down to BLT in the OC. Then, along the same lines as Jim's idea, it could move east each season and eventually south (to get to the Australians too).
So, today is both Allison's 2nd birthday and Phil's dad's 47th.
We went over to Phil's parent's house for cake and Boppa presents today and on Saturday everyone is coming over to our house for a Dora themed Allison party. It should be loads of fun!
I'm gonna unwind right now and then get to bed early (in theory) as I am taking the bus to work again so Phil can drive the kids to their Messy Art Fun (Spencer) and Nature Babies (Allison) classes at a rec center in Minneapolis.

Never. Once you've songfought, you will always be a songfighter.fodroy wrote:When is someone no longer a songfighter I wonder?
QotD: There are many songfight reality shows I'd watch but I think my #1 would be a WreckdoM show, just because. Followed by the Redmons.
