Roll Call!

This has been an odd day so far for the Niveous. I haven't been able to get my footing with anything today. But I have been enjoying a ton of J-Rock and NYC is littered with ads for LA Ink. Pictures of Kat Von D all over the place is a good thing.

QotD:
Based on a myspace classic. We are gonna play favorites.
What is your favorite song by (the person who posted before you)

For example if Spud had started this thread and I posted after him, I would answer- "That's Not What I Need" by #. And then person who posts after me says their favorite of my songs and so on and so forth.

x-tokyo-river-god's "Devils Live in a Quiet Pond" for sure rules all of my sensibilities.

Today I woke up at 6:30 after practically passing out at 10 the night before. Weird dreams, no doubt brought on by falling asleep to Neurosis and Godflesh. Today's my day off and my mom's birthday, so I'll be spending it running errands and shaving (bleh).

Luke Henley's "Clause 5, Sub-Paragraph d)" Damned infectious. Not in an "icepicking my ears to get it out of my head" way, but in a gooder way.

Dunno what's up yet, today. Struggling through first cup of coffee and first cigarette.

I have always been a sucker for Boomstick's "As Icons Of My Youth Fall Silent". I miss my friend Freudian Slip.

Back at work. Lots of shows coming up this week; six in five days, I think. Covering the whole state, from Colebrook to Hampton Beach.

QotD: Suave Noise Youth - Blueberry Hassle. "Chances are, if you have not won a Song Fight yet, you never will." I remember hearing this, and immediately it became a rallying cry for me. I wanted to beat that tendency. (I did finally win one, about a year later.)

I love Jim Tyrrell's "I Know My Rights" which is more or less straight blues, but with a good sound and great lyrics.
There are others, but that's the first that comes to mind.
My webhost lost its media server, so I had to scramble to gain new hosting and I'm currently moving all my stuff to the new server.... exciting, or something.

QOTD: Hurry! Heuristics Inc.
What We Need More Of Is Science - Great bass line and fun vocal snippets. *breaths*

edit:
OK, now I can post at regular speed. I don't know the older members stuff, so every time I went to find one I like, someone posted under said SFer. But not this time, woo hoo, I was like slow lightening, or fast, lava.

I kind of don't have any appointments today
Sure, I have to be a few places
But no time schedule
I like days like this

Qotd = Billy's Little Trip - Sister Cocaine

I am thinking that I might do the Album-a-week challenge that's going on right now. In turn, I am hoping that it will motivate me to complete some other music tasks that I need to finish.

ROCK!

QotD: How can I pass up 'Need Stilts'? Totally one of the best songs on Songfight. I'm also quite a fan of 'Dinga Da Donga' ;) And of course FAL songs are totally awesome(Accelerator and Space Cadet are up there in the favorite list)

I've been busy with AAW all day. While writing songs I've been listening to Harry Potter 1 as read by Stephen Fry. A perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Songfighter since back in the day.

Are we obligated to continue with the QOTD thing? Well, in this case, that's an easy one. Bjam's "switch hitter" is a great little ditty. Sweet vocals, simple smooth solo, clean acoustic and the synth gives it that sparkley new wave feel.

Anyway, this just caught me as so funny:

I swear, if you say you're eating pretzels and drinking root beer, I'ma gonna fall out of my chair. :P

Oh, and thank you Glen.

qotd: I really like Niveous' "I Don't Believe You." It's an oldie, but a goody. I think the melody fits his style of music and voice amazingly well. It's also less harsh than some of his songs and can be listened to at about any time. I think it also might be the first Niveous song I ever heard.

"God's Hangover" is one of my favorite songs period. Fodroy is one of the overlooked geniuses of songfight and the world, and I hope some day we go on a world tour together. It will be called the "Two dudes with 'tude and 'tars" tour.

This tour must happen. 8)

My favorite Luke Henley song is either "Sedona" or "Livin' at the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe." I think some people shrugged "Latcodac" as a violent joke, but there's a lot more to that. It starts off all violent and depraved, but then there's something truly human and beautiful in that last verse and the song becomes more than just a violent folk romp but a sad acceptance of being caught in a familial cycle of violence, a sins of the father sort of thing. Plus it's really fuckin' catchy and gets stuck in your head.
