Not sure how these cover fights go, but does everyone call dibs on a song so that it's not repeated? Or does it even matter?

Normally it's been that way, so I'd like to call 'Candy Says' if that's ok with everybody....

I think a month from now as a deadline should give everyone enough time to get something done, what yas think?

@ Billy's little trip : the way it usually works is just like that, everyone calls dibs on a song so it doesn't get repeated, but a lot of people call dibs on song early on and don't bother to submit a finished article so I'll leave it up to the individual to decide if they want to cover a song already chosen by someone else, it'd probably be better if everyone covered a different song but i don't care :D

So, September 1st is the official due date? Sounds good to me. I"m going on vacation for 5 days towards the end of the month, but a 4 week and a couple day deadline should be plenty of time.

By the way, I call dibs on "I'm Waiting For The Man"

Though I may also do She's My Best Friend, which incidentally my wife and I used as the bridal march at our wedding (out bridal waltz was Hug My Back by Weddings Parties Anything, which then merged immediately into Kiss's I Wanna Rock and Roll All Nite)

My teenage self from the past will be entering a version of Sister Ray - when I can find my 20-year-old tape of a live recording of The Mess I have somewhere.

Okay, my official call will be "Power and Glory" from Magic & Loss. I'll see if Wages is up for doing the Little Jimmy Scott vocals.

I may also decide to tackle Intro/Sweet Jane from R&RA, just to see how close I can come on the lead guitar bits.

Wish List: this fight will not be complete without the JBB doing "I Wanna Be Black."

I have always wanted to do a cover of "Goodnight Ladies"! Ok, actually, probably only since around 1994 when I heard it, but this is a good opportunity. Sept 1 should be enough time after SFL, hopefully...

I would have thought that you'd go with "run run run" because it sounds like a Caravan Ray song, lol.

Yeah, I suppose it does a bit. I had never thought of that before. - So I might do that to. Basically - if I had the time I like to do every Velvet Underground song - and as you have obviously noticed, they have been a pretty big influence on what I do anyway.

But for now I'll claim Venus in Furs - and see what happens after that.

Also happy to help out if anyone wants any extra guitar/bass/vocals for one of these

I'm very scared that I won't be able to do this justice, but I have a month and I love the song, so: Satellite of Love.

Candy Says... well and truely under way, I'm actually hoping to produce two versions of this track, the first would be basically what everyone would expect from me, the second (hopefully if people come through for me), would obviously be not what people would expect from me! (eg it'll be good :D )...

Now where did I leave that guitar... :?

I'd like to do John Cale's "Even Cowgirls get the blues" if you'll allow it (I think it's only fair if Lou's solo stuff is admissable)

But if not, then "Lady Godiva's Operation"
