A day may come when the Daily Roll Call falls by the wayside. BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY!

I'm going to see Alison Krauss at Meadowbrook tonight, to get one more look at the Second Stage. The Crunchy Western Boys (a local bluegrass band) are playing the Second Stage.

QotD: What's your favorite pair of shoes?

Mine are the ones I currently wear. They're Skechers that look kind of like bowling shoes, but with a square toe. The only shoes ever in my life that I wore until they gave out, and then went and got the exact same kind of shoes to replace 'em.

Damn it. Took ya long enough to put up one. I just didn't feel like starting today.

I'm working ridiculously hard today.

Wrapping up a new system architecture diagram, then head home to pack for our trip to Ireland tomorrow! Two weeks and 40 shades of green :) Then a few days in Belgium before returning to the haze.

QotD: Not really shoes, but my old Lange ski boots were the most comfortable things my feet ever knew. They lasted 15 years, too. Now I rent and it's just not the same wearing different boots that don't fit right...

Heh, I did that too. Different shoes, though. Almost every day I wear Vasque hiking books (to work, too). These, more or less:

http://www.vasque.com/products/m-wasatchgtx.cfm

These boots last a long time, even when you wear them basically every day. They're awesome! I do have to wear "high top" shoes because my ankles aren't great. These have very nice ankle support.

PS Allison Kraus puts on an awesome show.

My favorite shoes are a pair of cherry red docs that anyone who has met me has seen. I cannot find a replacement pair.

Hey Jack, I wear reefs too. But I do switch between Reefs and Rainbows. But always the same color, tan leather with dark brown or light brown strap.
As far as shoes, always boarding shoes, like Vans, DC or right now, my dailys are Fallens. My other daily shoes are Converse Chucks of different colors, but mainly, black and white.
I do like my Doc Martin boots, but they aren't my daily, go to work, shoes. They are my clubbing footwear. In fact anytime I go out at night, the Docs go on. Plus they make me about 2 inches taller, woot. :P

I wear Blundstone 058s everywhere. They double as work boots and can be polished up for formal occasions. They and my Masseur sandals are the only footwear I own.

John, you're like out of an old Aussie movie with your Dundee hat and fancy boots. You're like that guy in that Aussie movie where he gets up on the bar with battery cables hooked to his shoes and dances with sparks -A- flying. Can't think of the name off the top of my head. The one where the girl picks up some American dude in his Combi and takes him back to her freaky little town where they make dog food out of Roo's. You ever see that one?
I don't know why I watch so many Aussie flicks. It all started with Mad Max, now I'm addicted.

I, too, like Skechers. They put the S in action. My last two pairs of everyday shoes are Skechers.

Before that I was religious about wearing Birkenstock Arizonas, but that was when I was a grad student in New Mexico which calls for somewhat more casual attire.

I believe BLT is thinking of Welcome to Woop Woop, which, strangely, features Ray's favourite beverage in the promo shot.

Tonight I had my first ever solo gig! I got videos. They can be seen here, and feature two drum tracks by Jolly Roger and a cover by an obscure Aussie band only Ray may have heard of.

Today I found out my mom was admitted to the hospital for pancreatic and other problems. I leave tomorrow for 18 days in Europe but she insists everything is routine and ok. This while on morphine, of course. Managing elder parents will not come easy. They've both been very independent but I see it shifting (she's 80, he's 90) and one day I know it will change drastically. My sibs are nearby and much falls on their shoulders in such situations as it did on mine when I was the local rep. But it makes for unsettled traveling. At least those internets will keep me up to date.

I'm still sick and terrible and bored and blargh. Hope your mom is fine, Roy.

QOTD: I buy cheap pretty shoes from Payless. $10 a pair means I can buy them for a season, then throw them out. Other than black heels when I need to look presentable, all my shoes are colourful. For a girl, I'm really not that into shoes.

I wear New Balance shoes. I want to buy a pair of Adidas Gazelles like I had back in the day.

Today I woke up at 4 pm. I went to the store and bought new socks. I bought crew socks which are longer than ankle length socks, which are what I usually wear, but ankle socks are more expensive. This makes no sense because ankle socks use less fabric. I also bought Orange Drink. It is good but probably not good for you.

I only wear long socks. Socker socks, baseball socks, whatever. I hate socks tickling my ankles. Don't know what started that, but that's how it is.

I wear longer socks during the winter. Another thing is that I wear my socks inside out because I don't like the seams touching my toes.

Maybe tomorrow's question should be about sock preferences.

Bjam, get well soon... although I don't know if that's possible. I think you just have to wait it out ? Wondering if it's better or worse that this is during summer vacation :)

Roymond, where are you going?

Well, normally before a long vacation someone gets really sick, but so far we all seem healthy. Mom isn't well, but it looks like she'll be just fine, thanks everyone.

We're going to Dublin for a few days (I'm visiting folks about RTE for work while there, the sort-of PBS of Ireland), then to Galway, the Aran Islands, and places North of South from there. We spent two weeks in the south of Ireland last summer, so this is picking it up from there, going north along the west coast, then back to Dublin and then Brussles, Gent and Bruges in Belgium for a few days. It's hard to shut down for vacations like this. But necessary.
