Konichiwa Songfighters! Roll Call!
Today started off bad with forgetting my books at home, leaving me unable to write my novel. But I did do a lot of brainstorming in a small notepad and made leaps and bounds in story development. It was a blessing in disguise. Hopefully the rest of the day is full of cheerful surprises.
Question of the Day:
What are some of your favorite snaps?
What's a snap, you say? Here's an example-
Your mom's hairy and her breath stinks. People call her Chewcaca. *wookie noise*

....
They used to make these noisemakers often found in the fireworks aisle called "Snaps". They had rocks wrapped in a paper sleeve that made a little sparking snap when you threw them against the ground. Those were my favorite snaps...

QotD: This. And it even includes "your mom..." although I'm assuming that a snap doesn't have to be about "your mom..."
So I have 9 working computers loaded in the Suburban waiting to be delivered to the Wesley Community Center, hopefully today... these are for students in the ESL classes they give; they have 80 students in the class this semester and 28 of them don't have a computer at all.
The ones who need these computers obviously don't have high speed internet in their homes, so one of the things we have to do is to install a modem card in each one. We had a small supply of modems we'd pulled out of other old machines, and when we use those we have to dig around for drivers (hooray driverguide.com!), which means we have to figure out what make and model the modem card is to search for the driver. So I was working on this on Saturday and I had a couple of these modems that had no brand name on them anywhere, no model number that seemed to show up in searches... I finally did find a driver for them, but it took a lot of searching. So, anyway, we had seven working modems and nine systems, so I went over to Fry's Electronics to get a couple of their $13 cheapies, and I get them home and open up the box and... well, now I know where those mystery modems came from...
Anyway, if anybody happens to have a big box of old modems they're not using anymore, I'll pay shipping...

It took me 3 reads to catch "chewcaca". That's how quick I am this morning
Snaps, snaps... think this is more an insult than a snap, from George Carlin's repertoire: [on Marilyn Quayle] "I wouldn't fuck her with a stolen dick."
That's all I got.
Good one, Charles.
Been trying to get something together for the Memphis title, as a mental health break if nothing else. Went to my traditional writing place last night (the bar) and got most of the lyrics and basic arranging notes done. Mrs. Rabid joined me for a drink a couple of hours later, and then we went out to dinner at a good pizza place downtown. The strippers want to hear TGFM performed at my wedding, but alas, it's impossible (synth-heavy and multiple tracks, and I've only got the one synth). The frog bridge/break makes Mrs. Rabid laugh. I'm taking those as good signs.
Since it's an experimental piece, something I've wanted to try for a while (hard panning two songs/arrangements, one in each channel, and putting vox over the center of it) it'll fly the flag of "Civil Offense". We'll see what the suck-factor is, heh.
