Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

I'm stuck in the airport, because I thought my flight was half an hour later than it was, and my sister thought it was okay to show up half an hour later than I wanted to, and then we ran late on top of that. HOORAY. So no I'm in standby hell. The next flight doesn't board for 3 hours and it's already overbooked. So who knows if I'll even get back to Seattle in time to deal with some important move-related stuff that I have scheduled tomorrow.

For bonus fun, my phone charger is in my checked bag (which goes back to Seattle on the next flight no matter what, yay), the battery is halfway drained, and I'm apparently in the only airport terminal in the world which DOESN'T have a place which sells overpriced chargers.

I'm in Shannan airport, west coast of Ireland, returning the car since i can't at 5 am before our flight to Brussels tomorrow. It's raining (well, it's Ireland after all) and the Russian guys at Europcar gave me shit for a wind screen crack that was there when I picked it up but not on the damage report.

QotD: i have very nearly missed many flights, but thankfully never missed any other than NYS-DC shuttles, which fly every hour so they dont count. I feel very lucky for this considering how much flying i do, and fear its all now jinxed because of you, Fluffy.

Hope you do get home, BTW.

Incidentally, the last time I missed a flight (and the only other time I can remember) was flying away from Seattle after SF Live 2K3, and that was the airline's fault (I arrived a good two hours before the flight but they only had ONE FUCKING TICKETING AGENT at checkin and a HUGE line which took me about three hours to get through; lots of American Worst flights took off nearly-empty that morning).

Fluffy, are you at SFO? I missed a flight at that same airport once, and like you, had to wait for three hours (three one hour intervals worth of booked flights).

SFO yes. The next flight they even tried to book me on doesn't leave until 2 PM, and so I won't even know if I make it through standby until 1:30. Meanwhile the booking agent already warned me that it's overbooked. Too bad they don't let you schedule multiple standby flights at once (not that it matters, I guess, due to the way standby works).

I try not to fly. But I was snowed in at Chicago O'Hare once. Had to hang out in the airport for about 12 hours. It was so bad that Taxi's couldn't drive and you couldn't walk outside for more that 5 minute, unless you were an Eskimo.

Same shit as normal today. Magazines to put together, sales people to take the blame for, booze to drink. Ah, Mondays.

QOTD: I have never been in a plane. Ever.

Seriously? You should have your first flight be to the US for SFL next year. Yay planes!

I did nothing important today other than realize how soon school is starting and remember all my summer work that I haven't done.

QOTD: My first flight was to NYC in 1997, the flight back we were really paranoid about missing the plane. So we read the tickets as '1300' so we got to the airport at about 10am. Turns out it was actually 1800. We were in that airport for so damn long doing nothing. (This is the same trip where my mum got drunk on the flight to cool her nerves, then ended up throwing up in the limo on the way to the hotel. I slept the whole way. Woo!)

Yeah, seriously. If I have ever gone anywhere remotely far off (Melbourne, for instance) its been by train or automobile. Thats just how I roll, baby.

I would like to do SFL at some point, which will nessesitate some air travel, but I can't see that happening any time soon. To boldly go where Caravan Ray has gone before!

Back when I was a poor uni student, I was booked to fly from Sydney to Surfers Paradise on Xmas morning to see my parents. I got really drunk on Xmas eve and slept in. I got to the airport an hour after the plane left, looking really sick and smelling like vomit. The nice lady behind the counter felt sorry for me and just said 'Happy Christmas' and gave me a boarding pass for the next plane north. I have this awsome power over chicks.

I flew to Buffalo to see my family on one of USAir's whatchamacallits where they send an email with cheap tix for that weekend. It was leaving from National Apt (in DC) though, and I took the metro. Didn't realize how long the metro would take, though, and I arrived at the gate about 30secs after they closed the plane door, so I had to watch while my plane left. That was frustrating. I was able to get on the next one, but it was a very short weekend then.
That's the only one I missed not-because-of-airline-stuff.
