I have become obsessed with the Luke/Noah storyline on As the World Turns

Isn't it just a gay crush storyline? Nothing too special on a soap opera. It's not like a mass murderer or a a possession or a Passions crazy-ass storyline.

Well, no, it's actually progressing towards something--it's not simply unrequited love (as Luke's last storyline was). mass murders and possessions are pretty common fare though. What makes the storyline remarkable, for me, is that it is being treated as any other love triangle on a soap. It's nothing special--and that's what makes it special.Niveous wrote:Isn't it just a gay crush storyline? Nothing too special on a soap opera. Well then its really the tail end of movement of homosexual storylines in soap operas. It's good to hear that a storyline like that can be treated like its commonplace (even though you're treating it like special). I can remember the uproar when they did the Azure C. storyline on "The City" (Azure C was a model who had undergone a sex change). It's nice to see progress.

Sorry, I think you misunderstand what I meant by "nothing special"--outside of the context of the show, it's big, but, within the show, it's being treated as any other romance on it. That is, the story's focus is on the characters and the story and not OMG THEY ARE TEH GAY. It's equal treatment by the scriptwriters and producers--which is what makes it a big deal to me.Niveous wrote:Well then its really the tail end of movement of homosexual storylines in soap operas.
