Musician search

Post by Jawknee »

i looked through the forum to see if there were any threads about musicians seeking musicians. i didnt find any. there maybe one, but im gonna post this here and if in doing so i disturb someone then just tell me where the thread is.

My band Await Rescue ( http://www.myspace.com/awaitrescue ) is in search for a bassist in my area, Greater Boston. Anyone who's in this area and is interested in auditioning either reply here or on the myspace itself.

Thanks in advance,
John.

Would think the place would be in "Collaborations" but this is not so bad either. However I don't play bass or live in Boston.

yea, i was thinking that, but i figured that had to do with collabs for Songfights. this rreally has nothing to do with that. Tis monkey business.

Hey, just a heads up. There is a guy in the Boston area named Rob Delaney and he plays bass. Pretty darn well even. However, he's a pathological liar. I'm mean it's a serious problem with him.

He came into Tampa for a while from traveling with a carnival as an assistant to a 'weight guesser' or something similar. He told us small stuff like his middle name was Beethoven (it was Brian) and a bunch of little things that make your one eye squint while the other opens wider.

It was the big stuff that did him in though. He kept playing a song called "Jamie" and a couple of others he said he wrote. As it turns out they were songs by Weezer. (I figured that out one day) His biggest thing was that he said he was in the band Jaya The Cat (those guys rock by the way) as their bass player and wrote all of their songs. (from Basement Style) He could play their bass lines and he knew all of their words by heart. (not exactly correctly as I would later learn)

Well, he was kind of a flirty guy with the girls (actually he was borderline predator) and he got flirty with one girl while dating her friend and she just plain didn't like him. Her intuition told her that something wasn't right about him. She contacted Jaya The Cat and they hadn't heard of him. She told me this. I just couldn't believe it... I mean... I could but I just had to hear it for myself. I contacted them. At first they said the same thing...but then I got an email from the singer a day or two later. He had a recollection of a fella who had tried out for the bass player position. Said the guy was good even but they decided on somebody else. He said he couldn't be sure that his name was Rob but we described the same guy. (which would go a ways to explain how he knew the bass lines for those songs)

He had already started my band Ghost Town Gridlock and we were already turning into a Jaya The Cat cover band at this point. You know, because he 'wrote all their songs' and wanted to continue doing so here in Tampa. I wrote up something about this for all of our friends to see...well, he saw it too effectively calling him out on it. He left town THAT NIGHT. Never saw him again.

The guy is very charming and has a ton of charisma. However, he is very unsavory. (Drug issues, couch surfer, womanizer, moved in our drummer's female love interest etc...)

This post is not to bash a guy named Rob Delaney. This post is directed to inform you of a problematic bass player with that name.

Absolutely! It'll read: This guy stands way too close to 300 foot drops over cliffs! Would you hire a guy who flirts with 300 foot drops? I know I wouldn't!

(obviously I'm kidding)

I'm serious in my post above. I'm not trying to bash anybody...that guy was nuts and I'm just trying to save my brethren here from the evils that is Robert Delaney. Especially because he's very charismatic and its easy to get sucked in by it.
