Konichiwa Songfighters! Roll Call!

It's been a blah day for me today. I hope that I can turn it around with some preparations for SF:NY.

Question of the Day:
Do you have a lot of friends outside of SF who are musically inclined?

Niveous, you do realize that "konnichiwa" means "good afternoon," right? If you mean to greet us for the morning, a more appropriate word is "ohayou."

If you're just being ironic, then never mind.

[EDIT] Oops, turns out it also works as a generic greeting, at least <a href="http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=Ko ... >according to the Internet (though anything on E2 should be taken with a grain of salt, since E2 is basically wikipedia without the peer review).

qotd: my friend Matt started Jamglue, but isn't particularly musical. My friend Justin used to play a couple of instruments but I think he stopped. My friend Ross plays the drums and I think keyboard. I have a few friends back in Seattle who are musical non-SongFighters (Devin, Mike, and Fred) and a few others who think they can sing but can't (but they only try to sing in karaoke so it's okay). Also a few friends-of-Spud who don't do Song Fight though I'm not sure I really count them as my own friends since I only know them in a Spud context.

Hey all. Today is the second anniversary of my wife and I. Tomorrow, we're going out to a nice dinner-theater establishment in Jacksonville. Plus: I love Theater. Con: It's Steel Magnolias. Ah well, I believe my love of theater outweighs my disgust of chick stories.

QotD: My friend Matt, who laid down the drum track on the History of my Broken Heart song for me is probably the biggest one. We used to play in a band, after all. Really, outside of him, I only have a few friends who play guitar, but we never really get together to play. Genre difference, you understand...

I've always taken Konichiwa as a generic greeting ("Good Day"). It's also a little WuTang nod.

QotD:
Salana can play bass supposedly but I've never seen her do so. There a few ex-bandmates I'm still friends with like Faryl and Lucidia. But essentially in my circle of friends, I'm usually the musical friend.

I had a bunch of musically-inclined friends in college and they inspired me to try my own hand at it. I've kept in touch with two of them, at least. Also, Craig was a friend in real life before I joined SF then he followed me. Oh, also a few friends here play music. I acted as recording engineer for one of them a year or two ago and we keep meaning to get him back into my studio to record some more.

Most of the few friends that I have are musically inclined, or say they say. I don't see a couple of the guys that I'd like to anymore, but ya know? Life and all that.

I haven't done much today aside from work, but late last night (so, technically today) I spent 3+ hours calibrating my monitors for my new room. Which is probably a post in itself. Maybe an entire thread. The short version is that I played super-loud bass sine-wave sweeps until 3am. It's times like this I'm glad I have no neighbors.

QOTD: Not a single one. And none of the married ones, either.

qotd: My friends mostly play metal and hardcore. Most of my friends are involved in some art or creative endeavor, even if it's not music.

Laurie from the old JJ&tGTB days plays a swag of instruments. I also know a couple of guitar players, and a piano player. My sister learnt piano for a few years, though i think she wants to graduate to drums now. My dad used to play the violin!

Friends: I have few regular friends. Most are academics or writers, or geeks. All listen to music pretty seriously, but few are active musicians. My old friends (who you see once or twice a year) are more audiophile types rather than musicians.

QOTD: Yes. Very much so. And those I hold dear as friends who aren't musical, have their own creative endeavors.
