55 Minute Frenzies
I decided to follow through with this plan. The first frenzy is tomorrow. You can find out all you need to know at the radnoise forum.
I hope that some of you participate. I hope to keep this going if it's a success.

It's weird to put so much structure around the skirmish. But it's cool.
Some suggestions: embed the clock in the page (it is very cool you have a frenzy clock!). Or put the time zone on the due date.

I took a shot at that - but the forum disallows all html tags aside from ones I personally allow. I tried allowing the iframe tag, but it didn't work. I'll try a few other things, but if it never really gets embedded, you know why.roymond wrote:suggestion: embed the clock in the page (it is very cool you have a frenzy clock!).

Yeah, not that I'll do this but rule #2, Create a 250x250 jpg/gif image file displaying the title of your song, your artist name, and a picture representing the song, seems a bit constraining considering the 55 minute time limit. I'm predicting a lot of G & G songs with Sharpie inscribed poster boards listing the title and the band, but nothing involving the title of the song with the photo.roymond wrote:It's weird to put so much structure around the skirmish. But hey, I've been wrong so many times before I've lost count. So amaze me.

Yeah, I wanted to say something to this effect, so let me jump on your wagon. Rule #2 is nuts. Is the image supposed to be part of the voting criteria? Honestly, who's going to spend time on the image when they can spend time on the song? The song is the focus, no? I've got to write a song, then go hunting for the subject with my camera? You'll probably get something I make in MS Paint in two minutes.Dan-O from Five-O wrote:Yeah, not that I'll do this but rule #2, Create a 250x250 jpg/gif image file displaying the title of your song, your artist name, and a picture representing the song, seems a bit constraining considering the 55 minute time limit. I don't expect anything more - it's more of a bonus challenge (it's not part of the voting criteria). I'll be using the pictures as the link to the song. I think it'll give more incentive to fly through the recording process, especially if people eventually start doing mid-quality drawings. As long as there's some sort of image file attatched, I will use it.Lord of Oats wrote:Yeah, I wanted to say something to this effect, so let me jump on your wagon. Rule #2 is nuts. I think the optional challenge idea is cool, but we'll avoid that for a while (it'll be hard enough as is!!). After a few frenzies we'll probably introduce some other element.
By the way, I seem to have misplaced my guitar tuner. I have a few hours to find it and get prepared. No time for tuning during the actual process.

Here's a tuner. Don't say that I never did anything for you.jolly roger wrote:I think the optional challenge idea is cool, but we'll avoid that for a while (it'll be hard enough as is!!). After a few frenzies we'll probably introduce some other element.

The first 55 minute frenzy is a success! Each musician completed their song in 55 minutes (more or less), with a picture.

Pretty good? Our songs rock ass! They're all better quality than the median SF entry, and we didn't get a whole week!jolly roger wrote:I agree. There's only three songs to review this week, which is almost no work. The songs are all pretty good for a skirmish.Lord of Oats wrote:Yeah! Get your ass over there!
