Lately I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping. I don't know why.
QotD: Why can't I sleep?

In a moment completely out of character for me, I sat down and wrote a song for this weeks SongFight. Banal toilet humour and shitty performing makes a return!
QOTD: I have trouble sleeping sometimes, but I think that is mainly caused my my brain refusing to shut down. Like, it just keeps going and going and going. Not about anything in particular, just random shit. Like, how I have a good name for being an author, because the last name is short and the first name is long, so they can make the last name big and the first name small over the top, like what happens on a lot of Stephen King books.
Stephen
KING
Shit like that, but in a never ending cycle of pointless creation and locomotion of thought processes, until my brain shuts down, hours after going to bed, just worn down by the sheer tonnage of the bombardment.

Well, that's a given. Speaking of which. i'm sure that's old news, but it was just brought to my attention. Funny that they left it in.fluffy wrote: So far I think Sausage Boy is on the right track and the rest of you are just being a bunch of goofs.

In Episode II, Jango Fett hits his head while entering his ship after his fight with Obi-Wan. That was done by Lucas deliberately as an homage to this old blooper.Billy's Little Trip wrote:Speaking of which. i'm sure that's old news, but it was just brought to my attention. It's genetic, after all.

Does your fancy new job have a gym? A big workout will do wonders for your ability to pass out. If the gym isn't an option, go for a really long walk/hike/ or run. Bike ride, perhaps? ( Although California has that stupid thorn season that is murder on bike tires!)
Unfortunately, the boring advice of the experts is what usually works: Get exercise, cut down on caffeine, avoid alcohol, and keep the bedroom free of distractions. (No video games or TV in there!) Eat dinner early -- no late snacking.
OTC allergy meds will also generally do the trick.

Okay a somewhat more serious reply: this has only been happening in the past week, so it's not like there's some big change responsible (I've been at the new job for a month and a half, after all). I get a decent amount of exercise (I walk to work), I don't drink much caffeine (and when I do it's in the morning and sometimes at lunch), I don't drink much alcohol, and my bedroom is rather austere. I don't even have a clock in it.
I think it's just that a bit over a week ago, it cooled off enough that I stopped running my fan at night, and so the random noise from the street kept me awake. Last night I ran my fan again as an experiment and I slept pretty well. So I think I just need some constant background noise.
I try to avoid using any sort of sleeping pill, though rarely I'll take a dose of diphenhydramine (aka Benadryl, which is also the active ingredient in Simply Sleep et al) but that usually just makes me start to dream before I actually fall asleep and the dreams are disjointed and generally not restful.

Here.
Today I was at Disneyland - they have this year of a million dreams thing this year, and my family and I randomly won pin trading lanyards - that was cool - Now we'll end up buying pins - pretty sneaky.
QOTD: Change in humidity changes ionisation in the atmosphere and your brain is having trouble adjusting.
