I posted this on my weblog out of sheer desperation:
I can't find my glasses. I have no idea where I put them. The last time I remember wearing them was on Friday. I took them off to watch a movie (The Usual Suspects on blu-ray, quite recommended... last time I saw it was when it first came out on video tape), because the internal reflections were pretty bad. I didn't do anything all weekend which used them, and then this morning I couldn't find them, so I went to work without them.
I actually don't need them all that much, since they're just to correct a mild astigmatism. I only got them so I could see better when I drove at night, though I found the glare actually made things worse a lot of the time anyway. And of course now I don't drive at all. I only started wearing them full-time a year ago due to a fashion mishap involving an eyebrow and a stress-triggered neurosis, and then I got used to wearing them. Even without them I can still see tiny text from pretty far away (not as good as I could 5 years ago, but still pretty good), and in many ways I'd like to get used to not wearing them again since I have this sneaking suspicion that wearing them was making my focus "lazy."
Question of the day: Do you wear glasses or contacts? Why or why not?
qotd: I wear both. Because I can't see without em. Usually contacts. Wore glasses when I was a kid but since I tried contacts I can't stand the irritating nose-weight of glasses for very long. Pretty much just use them when leaving my contacts in for way too long gives me headaches. I should prolly just rest my eyes more often but I'm very very blind and I like to see things, so there ya go.
Funny, I was looking at your forum, fluffy, and was just about to try to register on there and post, but I figured I'd click on the songfight link one more time (I had tried like 2-3 minutes before)... and voila, it worked. And I didn't ping nobody nohow. Well, I'm sure you'll appreciate me not cluttering up yer beez' bizz' with my apparently thoroughly unlikeable comments/self/personality. It's worked out for the best, I suppose... at least temporarily, until they ban me from SongFight... for rockin'!

No optical prescription - yet. But if I ever need one I will wear the most Clark Kentiest looking frames I can find. I'm not too hip on the contact lense or laser business either.
Just reading glasses, and in order to make sure I can always find a pair I like to have LOTS of pairs around the house, in a wide variety of styles. I think I'm going to have to go stock up again soon, I'm down to about two pair right now...

I've always had 20/17 vision. But lately I've noticed that words get blurry when they are real close to my face, like 3 inches. I noticed this when I was working on an engine and I had to get get real close to see a screw. All of a sudden the slot in the screw got blurry. That has never happened before. I hope I'm not going blind. I still see far just fine, it's just when it's real low light and up close that is the problem.
My vision is 20/20. I always wonder about staring at a computer for so long ruining my vision.
If I ever need glasses I won't wear contacts. It takes at least four tries to get eyedrops into my eye. I hate anything touching my eyeball other than my eyelid.
Yesterday was pretty rough. Man. Let's hope that doesn't happen again. The worst part? You can't get on the board and bitch about the board being down!
QOTD: I wear corrective lenses. I'm nearsighted. One eye is worse than the other. I don't even remember which one it is. I definitely need new frames, but I probably need a new prescription, too. Now that I have a vision plan, I'll probably go in for an exam and shopping for some new ones this or next week.

YEAH NO DOUBT... I found myself in the chat room again for the first time in a year.

Man - I wish I lived in California. For one - I love Disneyland. Also, sometimes we can barely go trick-or-treating for more than 15 minute intervals at a time since it can get so cold (although that doesn't happen often. There is snow on the ground right now though). Why can't Halloween be in July?

I don't wear glasses or contacts. I think, if my vision does give out on me in the future, I'd be able to wear contacts just fine. I tend to get a lot of eye lashes in my eyes and have no problem sticking my fingers in there to get them out.
I'm excited about Halloween. Phil made Spencer an awesome Incredible Hulk costume! I'll post pictures of it for sure. I'm a little worried that he won't go for the green make up and hair paint that we got. We'll see...
Happy birthday Mr. Kellis!

QOTD: I wore contact lenses for many years. Then my eyes got bad enough that I needed to wear reading glasses with my contacts. I decided just to wear glasses and got progressive bifocals.
Now I only wear contacts when I'm exercising.
