Today we do a birthday party for my daughter. Bowling alley - should be fun. Tonight I'm going to a high school football game.

QOTD: With Baseball ending, basketball starting and hockey and Football in full swing (in the U.S., what am I missing?) What is your favorite spectator sport? Do sports matter?

Roll Call: I'm off to West Lebanon, NH to play a show at the Seven Barrel Brew Pub. The best gigs are the ones where they brew their own beer. Man, I should try to book at some wineries.

QotD: I like (American) football best.

QOTD: Football Americano, NFL is the best but the AFL can tie me over pretty well in between seasons.

I'm on call this weekend which isn't all that bad if those pesky customers would stop calling.

QofD: Women's tennis. Though the men finally have gotten interesting. And down hill skiing. Not into the team sports outside of the Olympics and World Cup.

I like picking up on the NFL after baseball has ended. I was a hockey fan as a youngster but can hardly tolerate a minute of it any more. I like sports but they take a back seat to more artsy-fartsy stuff like music and movies. And just to bring up FOX bias, I hate their sports coverage as well as their network and 'news'. Too many laser beam sounds and robot football players with zapping statistic pages. It wears you out, I tell ya!

Goddamn, that's some fast Tetris.

I don't dig most team sports very much. Yeah, I'm a pretty big nerd, so gee, I wonder who saw that coming? But (just as predictably) I do like Ninja Warrior. Does that count? If I had to pick a traditional American sport, I'd go with basketball.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for spectacle.

QotD: Football, followed by Basketball and MMA. I also watch a lot of Pro-wrestling but that's sports entertainment.

qotd: Soccer, or real football.

I'm going to see my friend's band play at a pool hall/bar tonight. This will be my first night drinking since last Friday. I'm also getting over my strep throat now. Antibiotics rule.

aside from the major sports mentioned, which i like to follow, i enjoy x-games type stuff, especially the BMX stuff.

here in santa cruz, they built a nice new skatepark and gave the old funspot thats near my house to the BMX groms. man, these kids seriously shred. i am blown away by some of the stuff i see these kids do on bikes. fearless.

future x-gamers. i love watching the x-games.

I'm into surfing and motor sports
I play baseball, but I don't like watching it on TV
Its boring
But I do love to go watch our Angel's play live, win or lose.
Football is good
As long as there is beer and finger food
Preferably wings and some blue sneeze to dip them is

But give me a day at the beach watching a surf comp any day
Nothing compares to man/woman against nature,
or flowing with nature, depending on how your day is going.
Anything X-Games I love too
BMX, skatebording, snowboarding, stunts comps

I also love auto racing, mainly drag and sprint
Motorcycle racing, mainly motocross
Boat racing, mainly hydroplane and sprint
Sprint boat racing started in New Zealand and Australia.
It is incredible. I suggest everyone check it out, you'll be blown away!
They are hitting around 160mph and it can get pretty crazy.

QOTD - Hockey!!!! HOCKEY!!!! I LOVE HOCKEY!!!!

That's not just a stereotypical Canadian thing to say - I really do enjoy watching it. There's a Flames/Wild game going on tonight, which should be fun to watch, as long as the Flames have stepped up since their last game - but who could have expected them to beat Detroit? They should do much better against Minnesota.

It's also pretty dang fun to play (even though I'm terrible at skating). I feel that way about soccer too. I don't like (american/canadian) football unless I'm at a game. McMahon Stadium has some great burgers. Baseball is fun to watch when there's a good team, but there's no way I'd go to a game. It's usually just too slow for me to care.

QotD: Favourite sport to watch is Rugby League - but I don't get to watch it very often any more, espeially now Joey Johns has retired and Newcastle are crap. I played Rugby Union for 20 years, but nowdays don't like watching it much - the rules seem to have changed a lot and I don't understand it. And we didn't win the World Cup, which sucks.

I like Test Cricket - but it isn't really a spectator sport because I can't devote 5 days to watching a whole match. But the slow pace means you can keep up with the scores while you're at work - in exciting matches it becomes the main topic of office conversation for 5 days.

I like watching swimming too. And sheepdog trials.

We were watching a show on telly yesterday, the Australia Fishing Championships, or somthing. It was hilarious. Just dudes fishing. And 2 commentators talking it up trying to make it sound exciting. Great stuff!

I love playing baseball and softball. They are great participant sports. Much better than cricket. I've never actually seen a professional baseball game on TV though

As you can tell by the previous post from other members, YES.

Not only is it a cultural thing, but being active promotes healthy living, tho it gets harder as the body ages.

mine: Soccer (European leagues), NBA, tennis, and occasionally some NFL.

Talking about football, Trinity College 15 lateral passes on the last play to win a game is fucking crazy!

 heh! yes - it looks like a very amatuer rugby team! Pretty crappy effort in defence by the opposition. Can't those blokes tackle?

Why don't they always play like that?

But this is how it is done Check it out. All Blacks vs The Barbarians from 1973
