I was in disbelief when I saw this. I'm up a little earlier than usual, so I questioned whether I had actually woken up yet. This is some shit, man.

Why disbelief? Her Father and brothers before her have also been assassinated. It was just a matter of time. Apparently someone doesn't like that family running things and probably never will.

You do have to admire a person for putting herself out there day after day to stand up for her beliefs, knowing that at any moment she might be killed.

I must admit that even though I read a ton of news and know a little bit about politics, I barely had any idea who this woman was until today.

Now, from what I'm reading...yeah, this is definitely not a surprise per say. Sudden but not exactly untimely.

I don't know how to feel about this politically though. Some can argue that she's not exactly on the up & up while others can argue that she was the best thing to be happening in that region of the world.

This could either be the end of something big, or just the beginning. However, this is a most UN-expert opinion. This is just my first glance at the whole thing.

It is just another day at the office in sub-continental politics unfortunately. You will probably find that the lead story today for the 1/5 or so of the world's population who live in that area would have been the score in the Aus v India test match from Melbourne. (OK, that isn't right - but that is probably only because India is losing. If Tandulkar had have got a century - BB would have been relegated to he second page).

Suffice to say - I'd guess that there weren't too many Pakistani life insurance companies chasing Ms Bhutto for her business.

That is why you Americans must abandon your ridiculous insular sporting competitions like baseball, basketball and gridiron football - and play proper international sports like cricket, rugby and soccer! I'm serious. When the Pakis come here to play cricket - we have to study up on their local politiics, customs etc - so that we can properly insult them on the field. This is what brings the world together. Dennis Lillee taught Australians more about Pakistanthan any geography teacher ever could.

Baseball is all over the place. Still shouldn't call the pro baseball championship "World Series" if only two countries take part, but World Baseball Classic in 2006 had 16 countries taking part.

HAHA. Right you are! But spend some time in a Washington, DC cab and you'll learn a lot. Those west Africans always have NPR on and read international papers. It's truly refreshing.

I see. So the regular 3-month long tours of Central America, parts of South America, parts of the Caribbean, and parts of East Asia and Southeast Asia by the US National Team must be events that you really look forward to. And the players from those opposing national teams would be household names, just as Sachin Tandulkar, Brian Lara, Shoaib Akhtar, Muttiah Muralitharan and Phill Tufnell are here.

I may be guilty of bald faced ignorance rather than arrogance, but somehow that seems to fit just as well regarding the general US populace. No fact check for me, I remember reading that in a book just a couple of years ago. Apparently, they didn't do their fact checking either. However, given the corporate 'leanings' here, can't you see how it makes sense?
