ZooMooZik?

Post by Billy's Little Trip »

Anyone deal with these people or get an email from them? It doesn't look like a bot type email, but it does look like a typical sales pitch.

as follows:
What's up,

I was on your page checking out your tunes and just listened to "ten lies", good stuff. I have a few questions about your music and I want to discuss the possibilities of us working together.

I work at a digital record label and I can get you a digital-distribution deal without you losing any rights to your music. More importantly, we offer worldwide promotions to artists. Give me a call when you get a chance so I can ask you a few questions. If you want to check me out, check out ZOOMOOZIK

My number is (978) 279-9934 extension 223. Thanks, shoot me a call when you have a minute and if I never hear from you keep making music, it sounds great.
---Please don’t reply on email contact my phone. Thanks

Here are the facts

Here is the testimony

I've had no dealings with them.

My only comment would be—what's a digital distribution deal? If they're just talking about getting your stuff avail. on iTunes and other sites like that, well, of course you can do that yourself via CD Baby.

Is there something else that could be meant?

Looks like they'd like to sell you some marketing services. Googling led to this on the CD Baby boards:

Sounds just like isounds.com to me. Pretty much stuff that a person can do on their own, but they put it in a neat little package and have you in a heavy traffic site, in exchange for money.
Although I'm not interested, there is value to that kind of convenience. I should hit them up to buy ad space from me.

I'm always a little leery of emails that say "don't reply to this email, contact me some other way" because that is a big SPAM marker. Also, it's not an 800 number, 978 is awfully close to 976 hahaha.

My band recieved the same message on our myspace page. A follow up came a few days later. I agree with the other post that you can do the same services for yourself a lot cheaper.

I got 3 e-mails from them.

#1:

What's up,

I was just listening to “Cute Boots” and I have a few questions about your music and I want to discuss the possibilities of us working together.

My name is Matt Richissen and I work in Artist Development for Zoomoozik. com, the World’s first digital record label.

Please call me at your earliest convenience on my direct line so I can go over the details of the project with you. Please do not respond with an email or MySpace message. I receive dozens a day and it is impossible to read and reply to all of them. My direct line is (978) 279-9934 Ext. 206
