May 18 - FOG!

Post by fluffy »

So, that seemingly-long-promised fog that would bring an end to the heatwave rolled in a couple hours ago. I am very happy about this. I like fog, and I dislike heat waves. It is a win-win!

I need to make some dinner. I'm not sure what I want to make though.

qotd: What did you have for dinner?

Haven't eaten yet, but I have jumbo shrimp marinating in sesame ginger sauce, and a few big rib eyes, made fresh cole slaw and sweet potatoes that I tossed around with EVOO, fresh garlic, chili powder season salt, pepper and a tiny dash of cinnamon, that will also go on the grill. I'm just waiting for everyone to get here. [fluffy]Num num[/fluffy] :P

We had some chicken & pasta casserole and a salad. In that order. Also, after having left the Phoenix area a couple years ago, Krispy Kreme has re-opened here. One of the singers in our band at church brought some this morning, and I seem to have been the natural choice to wind up with the leftovers. So we had some donuts, too.

I guess we're supposed to get the hot weather that just left the Bay Area... next couple days will be really hot, back down to the 90s by the weekend.

For the week... I've been doing a lot of music lately and have fallen behind on various non-music errands and to-do stuff, so I have a long list of those things to get done. When I'm not doing music.

Our Jamaican babysitter made some insane shrimp dish the other night and I just finished the leftovers. That was tasty.

Oh yeah, that's right. I just know that you manage to type very descriptively. :P

You can make ramen noodles pretty fancy. Make them in the usual manner, drain the liquid and set aside, then scramble an egg or two and set aside, chop about a tablespoon of onion really fine, maybe grate a little bit of carrot or add some cooked/leftover chicken or chop up some cold cuts, maybe a little bell pepper, maybe some coarsely chopped peanuts, etc. Heat up a pan really hot with about a teaspoon of oil, toss everything together for a minute or two, then right before you pull it off the heat, add about 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. I like to eat mine with a drizzle of rooster chili sauce. Spicy. om nom nom? :P

Ramen noodles are an okay ingredient in other things. Just don't use the "flavor" packet. I used to make wasabi beef noodle soup all the time, where I'd prepare ramen noodles for a soup (without the flavor packet) and then sautee a minute steak in soy sauce, wasabi, and sake (or mirin, or rice wine vinegar), and then slice it into ribbons and add it, some chopped scallions, and some toasted sesame seeds to the soup. It was good.

I wouldn't, but if I did, I'd probably do soemthing like *schk* or something. I don't tend to do 'emotive' crap in my posts.

i'm usually a cad monkey inside... but sometimes i get to go out in the field as part of the survey crew when they need an extra man... and we use radios out in the field... one of the guys i work with insists on making that noise with his mouth after talking... even tho the radio does it automatically... kinda funny...
