Today has been filled with a lot of work and I gave blood. Tomorrow will be better as it'll be full of BBQ, going to Pool and watching the strange movie combo of "Short Circuit" and "Hard Candy".

QotD: What's your plan for the 4th?

Hard Candy has a good premise but is boring as crap. Short Circuit features Alley Sheedy in the bathtub, and while you don't see anything... its still nice. (She was so cute)

DRC: Blues, have a case. I get like this when I misappropriate my funds.

QOTD: I am on-call this weekend but my boss said that he would take the phones from 6pm to 4am tomorrow night as one of my bands (The Funeral Dazies) has a gig. (The Emerald Bar in St. Petersburg...Florida)

Hard Candy was scary as crap. I was weirded out for, like a week, after watching it. You have chosen a weird combination of films, indeed...

No plans for the fourth, just stay home and stay out of trouble. Hope that none of the fireworks shows start another brush fire. We're nowhere near what California is like, but we've got a couple big fires in the Phoenix area that have been going for days. One of them, the Crown King fire, was started by a hiker who got lost and set a small signal fire that got out of hand...

We decided to adopt our current foster dog, "Brody." We were kind of worried because after walking a fairly short distance, he was limping, but the vet has done blood tests and x-rays and can't see anything wrong, so the current theory is that he is just massively out of shape and just needs to get some exercise.

Looks like nobody used my lyric for "Window" and even my cover art got beat out by BLT's last minute entry. Oh, well.. life is still good. We just made a pitcher of Long Island Iced Tea, and all will be well soon :-)

QOTD:
Family,
BBQ,
Safe and sane fireworks,
alcohol,
music,
Good times for all.

Rented Drill Bit Taylor to watch tonight. Owen Wilson always manages to entertain me. Also rented Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd, out of control. The main guys are the Asian guy from heroes and the fat guy from The Get Smart in the theaters. Strange that it came out while the main movie it spun off of is still in the theaters. Meh, we shall see, but my expectation are low.

BLT? You mean William L Tripowtski. I'm a musician, whereas Mr Tripowtski is an artist that goes to parties where people smoke cigarettes in long holders, wear raspberry barrettes, sunglasses in the dark and never smile. He's also bi-sexual because he likes having sex with women and he's in love with his own penis. He kinda had this problem. And it's not even that big of a deal, something like 8 percent of artists do it. For some reason, he doesn't know why. He would just kinda... sit around all day... and draw pictures of dicks. He'd just sit there hours on end drawing dicks. He didn't know what it was. He couldn't touch the pen to the paper without drawing the shape of a penis. It's really fucked up. Here he is, an artist, and he can't stop drawing dicks to save my own life. They sent him to a shrink and they literally stopped him from eating foods that were shaped like dicks. No hot dogs, no popsicles... You know how many foods are shaped like dicks? The best kinds. Image

QotD: I'm working on the 4th. But that's kewl cuz I am not so much into the whole fireworks thing.

DRC: This is highly unusual I know for a DRC but it connects into what I'm doing today. I got a router the other day and I finally got my 2 computers to work together. However I can't get my XBOX 360 to go online with the router. What do I need to do?? Urgh.

Do they have a July 4th in England? duh-her-de-her! If it doesn't rain, I may walk down to the ocean and watch the fireworks. It's about two miles to the shore, another couple to the center where they launch'em off. There may be some booze involved, or so the rumors go. :)

We have a July 4th in New Zealand, but it's called 4th July and it isn't a holiday. It's almost over and it rained all day, just like the 3rd July. And 2nd July....Waitangi Day is a holiday - I think that is in March. The ocean is at the end of my street and the surf is totally pumping. I might take the dogs down and see if we can catch us some penguins. Mmmmm...penguins....tastes like chicken. Fishy chicken.

I have two things to do on the 4th. I am re-building my bass drum with new lugs, and then we party. Friends, barbecue, deck, beer, etc. Maybe if I get the drum done even a little jamming who knows?

Cheap bastards used regular lugs on the bass drum,
and they are failing. These should do the job.

I was reading quickly and, admittedly, looking at the pretty pictures rather than the words. I was immediately interested in why / how you were getting new lungs, and why both your old and new lungs appeared to be metallic lozenges.

Then I saw "lugs". It's still interesting, but not nearly as much as before.

not really...

Image Image
The main deck is to the lower right in the first picture, but still one floor above grade.
We will watch the fireworks from the upper deck. The rest of the pictures are of the lower deck. .
Image Image
There is one more deck to build, which will be at grade, and accessed from the big yellow roll-up door.

We're going to hope for no rain, or at least very little rain, and take the trolley into the city, then walk across the river to hang out a bit, see some entertainment, eat some food, then take in a free Soul Asylum show followed by lasers and fireworks. And then enjoy the rest of my 3-day weekend.

QotD: work... Fri & Sat. might goto the bar tonight... but... I was planning on quiting drinking & smoking... I've been really killing myself with the shit lately... needs to stop. argh! ;)

By the way Spud, your house is my dream house. I love it.
Someday I will build an engineering and architectural masterpiece. I've bought land in a few different parts of Cali (far northern and southern) that will be paid off in the next 5-10 years. I just hope I'm alive long enough to enjoy it. If not, it will be my last mark on the world. I want to design in some booby traps and curses so that anyone that tries to tear it down encounters an Indiana Jones situation. The booby traps are no problem, it's the curses that I need to work on.
Don't worry, in my will and testament, there will be a warning to all family members as the house gets passed down generation after generation. Any family member that tries to sell the house will die, etc.

Actually - after dissing architects (on several occaisions I believe) - I can actually find some good words for Mr Spud's profession. That house I am selling in Brisbane, (which the estate agent has described as "architect designed" in the advert) - is a really beautifully designed house. We didn't build it, we bought it as is - but it had so many great functional features that impressed the hell out of me. Especially its thermal control. It was perfect for it's location (so many Queensland houses are not). Even in the hottest and steamiest Brisbane weather - we very rarely had to resort to using air-conditioners, because the air-flow throug the house kept it so cool. I don't know who did design it, but they did a damn fine job.

But I am not "stylin high" at the moment. I am living in a rented mould-farm in the world's largest sheep paddock. I am cold and wet and there is sod-all on the telly. Sure, Taranaki is beautiful when the sun comes out - I think that has happend twice so far since we've been here. On a positive note though - Kiwi's do make excellent meat pies (that's "kiwi" as in the generic term for the people of Aoteoroa, not the small flightless bird)
