Shock Mounts

Post by Reist »

I've got a question. Call me retarded if you so choose, but I can't for my life figure out how to hook my CAD into its shock mount. It's a GXL3000, and the shock mount came with it, so I'd assume that it would attach well. I feel like a moron for asking, but could someone post a step by step 'how to' guide of how to connect a large diaphragm condenser into a shock mount?

Thanks! - Andrew

ps - I'm terrible at puzzles, so that may have something to do with it.

There should be two springy clips that you squeeze together to loosen the mount, and just slip the body of the mic into the ring... or is it a different setup?

Ahhhhh, thanks. I had tried that, but I guess I just wasn't pushing hard enough. It's in, and I'm ready to record some album (or maybe another SF song for once!). Thanks Mark!

Unrelated to the OP, but a shockmount question:

My BLUE Dragonfly is an awesome mic, but the shockmount that came with it is nearly dead, due to perishing elasticity.

Sure it looks cool, but think about it: Heavy-ass microphone suspended by two small bungees. Great idea.

Basically, does anyone have experience replacing bungees in a shockmount? I can't imagine it'll be too difficult, as BLUE did manage to make disassembly possible, so I guess matching the right thickness of bungee is the most important thing.

Why not contact BLUE and complain? I would think they would send a replacement.

Better yet, sponsor another Gearfight and buy him a new one!

Eh, I've had it for like two years, and it'll be a cheap fix, so I'm not all that worried. It's just a little annoying that such a badass mic has such a poorly-designed - albeit awesome looking - shockmount.
