October 7, 2008
DRC: Busy work day but I have a ton of good tunes on me to enjoy.
QotD:Here's an odd question. Back in December, Fluffy had a dream that King Arthur passed away. And recently I had one that Max the Cat did. So my question is...
If you passed away, how do you think we (Songfight) would find out?
I know it's a depressing question, I'll make it up to y'all in a moment, since it is the second week of October and that means its' time for....

My prodigious output would suddenly come to a halt, and people would be freaking out due to the vacuum this would create.

You'd read about it in the paper, because I'm going out in a blaze of gun fire.

Re: October 7, 2008
man that's a depressing question. thanks for reminding me of that depressing dream, JERK.
Um. Most likely people wouldn't notice since sometimes I go a while without posting to my blog or comics or here or whatever. And I tend to have my domain names and hosting paid for a few years in advance. HOWEVER, two of my coworkers are also long-time Internet Friends, so assuming they found out (and didn't just assume that I'd disappeared off the face of the earth when I stopped showing up for work) they'd probably post a comment to my blog or something, and maybe someone here would eventually find out? I dunno.
I figure that when I'm dead I won't really care if anyone finds out (what with being dead), but I do worry about the others who do care, so uh.
This whole topic depresses me.
Jerk.

Re: October 7, 2008
Yeah I'm a jerk.
But y'know what. My wife is part of a forum and one of their longtime poster suddenly stopped posting out of the blue. It was unusual, so they tracked her down in real life and found out that she was in the hospital and fairly bad off.
I would hate for the same kind of sitch here.

Yeah I know. I believe Zeno had a koan about this: When Niveous posts to a forum, is it Niveous that's depressing or the reader who is depressed?

Re: October 7, 2008
Niv, as I mentioned a few weeks ago, that happened over at my mustang site. A 5 year member and moderator, Chad (rip) suddenly stopped posting. It was during the last big hurricane in Louisiana. So after the hurricane and no sign of him, one of the other mods called his work, a family business, and his Dad informed us that he was killed in a car accident. His family business does ship recovery and such. So he stayed during Katrina and rescued people 24/7 for week with as many volunteers as he could get using his companies boats and rescue equipment. He was repairing for the same when the car he was a passenger in crashed. He had become a good friend and was a great person.

Re: October 7, 2008
i'd post even more infrequently.
maybe i should put something in my will to post something in the Songfight monkey business thread about my demise.
it can be my "official obituary". it can even lead off with "so you think you knew jack shite...."

I think the moral of this story is "make friends with at least one Songfighter outside of Songfight".

I've thought about this before. I have no idea. You'd probably notice when instrumentals by bands with weird names diminished greatly in frequency.
I actually did get sick enough to have to go to the hospital, at one point, and it got quite in the way, and I've never really ever gotten my momentum back.
EH. We'll see.

What if the one person you pick from Song Fight, let's say like...oh I don't know, Paco, turns out to be a crazy fucker, stalks and kills me and then eats my liver and dies of alcohol poisoning? Who's gonna inform yoooz guys?Niveous wrote:I think the moral of this story is "make friends with at least one Songfighter outside of Songfight".

DRC: I got laid off today. Sonuvabitch.
QotD: Back in 2004, a lot of you guys got worried when I was a no-show at Songfight Live. Suffice to say, I wasn't dead, but things were definitely going badly for me at that point. If I died tomorrow, sad though it may be, most of the members of this forum would probably never find out. Unless Erik or one of the other Austinites happened to see my name in the obituaries.
I really should put "Let the Songfighters know what happened" in my death folder. With my forum password and such.

I don't read the obits. Have your girlfriend list your passing in the "Shot in the Dark" section of the Chronicle.Generic wrote:Unless Erik or one of the other Austinites happened to see my name in the obituaries.
