Someone once suggested that since 1) The Who are missing a bass player and a drummer and 2) the surviving members of the Beatles are the bass player and the drummer, they should get together and form a new band. I then tried to come up with songs for them to do:

Magic Mystery Tour Bus

Love Reign O'er Me Do

She Loves My Wife

Eleanor Rigby: I'm a Boy

I Wanna Hold Your Seeker

I Can't Explain Yesterday

See Me, Feel Me Here, There and Everywhere

Drive My Car Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere

Come Join Together

Let's See Action When I'm 64

QotD: Add to this list.

I think they should go by "The Bwhotles" (pronounced "bootles").

This belongs in the "bands you hate that everyone seems to love" thread, but The Who just never did it for me. I love some of Townshend's solo work, but the rest of the package doesn't belong on the same shelf as The Beatles, though I certainly understand their influence.

In that spirit, the only title that comes to mind is for the album: The Beatles Sell Out.

I have a special place in my musical heart for the Who, as theirs was the first LP I ever owned, given to my by my high school girlfriend. Crimson and Clover was my first 45, given to me by my junior high school girlfriend.

Hey Spud - Do you have Petra Haden's a cappella version of the Who Sells Out? You might dig that, as if I remember rightly, that was your first LP. Anyway, worth checking out by anyone. She does the entire album, fake commercials and all. Perty neat.

I might have The Who Sells Out on 8-track, but my first LP was Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy. I think maybe my girlfriend was hinting as something, I dunno.
