Today I am no longer 32.
QotD: Last week, my company announced they'll cut 5% of the workforce worldwide. Today my boss mentioned that this will most definitely include jobs from our branch office. Are you worried about your job this year? And if you were to be 'let go', what would you do next?

Happy birthday Henri. Here, I'll do my happy birthday dance for you ... ....how yooo like?
QOTD: I'm self employed, so if I can't maintain my financial requirements, then I have no one to blame but myself. I have to work twice as hard right now, travel further than normal and take jobs that I'd usually turn my nose up at. This economy has humbled me considerably.

Happy birthday... I don't dance like BLT tho... forgive me.
QotD: I feel pretty safe, the survey crew not so safe... but I'm the only real cad guy... so I'd only be canned if my boss just didn't receive ANY work, which is unlikely... at least from an engineering standpoint. If I were to lose my job however I would sell all of my belongings (except my music making tools of course) and become a wanderer... I'd wander around and around and around and around...

QotD: Well I've already been at my current job for 20 1/2 months. My previous longest job was 4 months. So I must be doing something right. And considering most people who work here don't last more than a month or two (grocery store), I guess if I've made this far I pretty much have it made. So nah, not worried.
From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style.

happy birthday!
i don't think i'm worried about us; our workplace seems to bend over backwards rather than lay people off, which is good. unless the new administration changes funding stuff a lot. however we just found out that a close family member was laid off this week. that's bad news.

Re: 30Jan2009
I work in the mortgage department of a bank. In customer service/collections. I'm doing fine, now.
However, I did recently spent a month unemployed, complained about the job search on this board all the time, and got very worried.

QOTD - Worried, no. I work in a psychiatric hospital, human services if you will, and it's a relatively safe field as there are always sick people. Of course, a hospital is still a business and can go under like any other, but I think we'll be OK. I may not get paid much as others of you do, and somehow that fits into the equation, I think. Best of luck to us all, though.

QotD: I was cut back to three days a week a while ago. The credit crunch hit our company pretty hard - we had some sales lined up that were held back because they couldn't take out loans to buy our shit. A couple of people in my building got laid off completely.
I'm back up to four days now and I've been assured we should be back to normal in about a month. I think I can get by with four days a week. Hello three-day weekends!

When have I ever spammed the boards? And if I did have a product worth spamming to a bunch of musician in other states and countries, I'd be in the poor house, because you guys are cheap asses. j/kdrë wrote:aperently this dosent stop you from spamming the boards.Billy's Little Trip wrote: QOTD: I'm self employed, so if I can't maintain my financial requirements, then I have no one to blame but myself. I am no longer 32 today too!!!!!!
Just like yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that, and the day before that...(repeat roughly three thousand times)
I'm a little surprised the words:
Is it because:
Anyway - If I lose my job - I would just move back to Australia where I can earn twice what I earn here, and earn it in Aussie dollars. Hooray for me! But I work for an electricity company, and people need electricity - recession or not - and I'm loving these low interest rates! (I'm a 'glass half-full' type of guy)

Yes, happy birthday Henrietta! Your vocals are sublime! Glad you started fighting again.
The economy is wreaking all kinds of shit here at the teaching hospital where I work, and while it's unlikely that I'll loose my job, we may have to "reduce our FTE" as they say.

QotD: When there's bad weather, and a voice comes over the intercom saying, "all non-essential employees may leave early," I know they're not talking about me. Sucks when I'd like to cut out (which is often), but good to know should they ever start talking about layoffs.

HBD Henrietta!
QotD: I actually quit my job of 3 years a bit over a week ago. Just got fed up with them. It was the dumbest thing I think I've ever done, but my sanity is more important to me than financial stabil... oh shit, not it isn't... Anyway, I managed to rebound and got another job this week.
Also, am I the only person who chuckled when Jon said he works in a bank? If you don't immediately 'get' it, don't think too hard about it. (it's a stereotype thing)
