Why Song Fight?
Why do we do this?
Why do you Song Fight? What do you get out of it? Besides the obvious.

Re: Why Song Fight?
I wouldn't have a music career without SF. I was doing a few instrumentals here and there but nothing serious. The first SF entry I did was my 2nd ever song with vocals in it (and it sucked). And so I went thru about 30 more songs and here I am the best SF to ever live (joking).
But seriously, this site gives me the motivation I need to keep plugging away. If I didn't have new titles coming out every week or so I wouldn't bother most of the time to work on anything.

From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style.

I like Song Fight because I like to make music and I don't have to ask anyone to listen to it, it just gets listened to.

I like what Rone said. It started out being all about using a deadline for motivation, like going to the gym with a friend. Recently, though, it's been the people that are the draw. I just went through the last two days of the Come Down review thread instead of going to bed.
Irwin: I'd sell my soul to jesus to program drums like signboy.

qotd: I know I'd make music with or without SF now, and I don't get a lot out of the reviews anymore so I'm guessing it's just habit now.
You guys probably won't be able to get rid of me. Unless something horrible happens.

Re: Why Song Fight?
I'd like to say it's purely a sharing thing, like, I created this song, and here it is; listen to it if you want, love it or hate it, it doesn't matter, because I *made* this thing, and you can *have* it, no strings attached. When people dig something I've made, that's the greatest feeling ever. I'm pretty sure it's the same for any art form, I just happen to be musically inclined (and I can't draw). That's what I'd like to say, and it would be all karmic and shit if that were the entire story, but it's not. (Although it is true, in my case... just not the complete picture)
There's certainly a bit of competition that factors in. I always try to convince myself that it's not about the competition, but whenever I submit a song for a fight, I realise it *is* about competition, at least to some degree. It's nearly impossible to be subjective about your own art, but I really do try and fairly rate my song against other peoples'. Also, for some messed up reason, I don't feel quite right listening and reviewing fights unless I'm in them myself. (I know, anyone can listen and review, but that's just weird old me). I kind of feel that I don't deserve these great gifts of other peoples' music unless I contribute my part too, but then I remember that the biggest kick I get is other people listening to my music... I said, it's messed up. There's also the feeling of community and friendship. I've been around here long enough to feel like I know most of you personally. I've never met any songfighters IRL, but that's mostly due to location and timing, I would actually like to meet (and jam with) a whole lot of you people some day.
To sum up: There's a whole bunch of reasons why I hang around here. I was accepted (and actually praised a few times!) into this little community, at a time when I had serious doubts about wanting to continue making music, and the feelings of love and family and camaraderie were something I really needed to keep going with it, and I thank everyone for that. This place has changed my life. (seriously)
Also, what the hell else am I supposed to do when porn gets boring?

Re: Why Song Fight?
That would have been witty if not for the typo. Now, it just becomes a lame excuse to make a dyslexic joke. To wit: "I attended an idyllic sex meeting today. It was boring though, there was just a bunch of people in a room complaining about seeing words jumbled up"Rone Rivendale wrote:Swtich fetishes?Märk wrote: Also, what the hell else am I supposed to do when porn gets boring?
