Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

It's Thursday the 12th of March

Post by fluffy »

I am still sick. For some reason I decided to go to work anyway. Fortunately everyone else is out sick, so the net impact is 0.

In positive news, my album should finally be getting listed on CDBaby sometime today (at about the same time that they're revamping their website, woo).

qotd: Are you sick right now?

QotD: bronchitis. On the decline, I'm very happy to say. I've still got a not-quite fever and cough a lot, but it's a more nutritious productive cough now.

How longs has it lasted? I'm on day six of having my lungs feel like they're full of pudding.

Started around Wednesday last week. My lungs still aren't nice and shiny yet. According to Wikipedia it can take several weeks until the cough stops, but I've decided to be healthy by Saturday so that doesn't apply to me.

Did you get any antibiotics? That can help to clear it up a lot faster (like, 3-4 days).

I had a similar episode last autumn that turned into suspected pneumonia, so I went to the doc right away and got antibiotics this time. Today's my fourth day on them, but I don't seem to be getting better. I'm wheezy and short of breath with the slightest exertion. I have asthma that flares up at times like this, so the doc also gave me oral steroids, but I'm holding off on taking them as I understand they will weaken my immune system. This seems like a bad time to weaken my immunity. Yeah, so there's my complete medical history. It's stressful. Just looking for a ray of hope. Don't you have asthma, Fluf?

I do have asthma, yes, which is why it's very important that I get on antibiotics when I get bronchitis, which used to be very often. This current mild sinus infection I have feels like it could turn into bronchitis, and if that happens I will definitely go see a doctor.

Why do you get bronchitis less often now? Anything you're doing differently?

Better health in general, better lifestyle, I guess. I get a lot more exercise nowadays than I used to.

Good for you. I gave up smoking and have been eating much better and hitting the gym for the last several months. I had hoped these efforts would buy me my freedom... so this illness is a real disappointment. But hopefully a little more time and patience will pay off for me too.

I started taking antibiotics on Sunday.
Regarding antibiotics not working: it might be that it's a viral bronchitis. If that's what you've got, all you can do is wait it out -- antibiotics only treat bacterial infections. And treat symptoms (reduce fever if really high, take expectorants, etc.).
Alternatively, the bacteria may be resistant to the antibiotic.
Or it's a chemically induced bronchitis.
Or...
I'll just stop now. ;)

Yeah fluffy!

I am not really sick although I am not sleeping well.
And I've had this issue for over a year now, where my right ear's eustacian tube gets closed off and my ear pressurizes... it's blech. The ENT Dr. has me on some medicines which help but are not doing anything to the root cause. Not sure where to go next. As I read about this sort of problem it is hard to figure out what is causing it. Although on the good side I had a camera on a stick up my nose and I now have a color photo of the inside of my head, quite a conversation piece.

QotD: Not right this minute, but I just got back to Denver from Houston and I've caught a cold every single one of the 3 other times I've even been there. So, it's probably just a matter of hours now. :)
