Les Paul R.I.P.

Post by Paco Del Stinko »

A pioneer of guitar wizardry and recording, influential to those of us who home record whether we realize it or not. Some of those guitars named after him aren't too bad either.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Aw man. :( At least he lived a long life and was shredding into his twilight years. RIP

The last time I heard him was 4 years ago and it was still exciting! He has influenced technologies in fields well beyond music. A quiet genius. His was a good life!

My first guitar was a Hondo "Les Paul Copy" - I had no idea what that meant - but time has passed and I have grown - just wanted to add my dismay to the others who have posted before me.

And shame on me for not mentioning his music. While much of it may be considered corny, much is mind boggling, smile inducing, and inspirational. If you can find a copy of the early 90's box set Les Paul: The Legend And The Legacy, grab it.

I too had one of those, it was the sunburst orange and red version. I had a piece of paper inserted between the nut and high E string to cut down on the buzzing. I was 17 then and it was just fine.

I admire Les Paul for his accomplishments and I really do consider him the inventor of the electric guitar.

I knew he was still alive up until recently, but I seriously underestimated his age.

The man lived a full and amazing life. He's given so much to electronics in the music world. For those that don't remember his "Les Paulverizer", take a look. The sound kind of blows out towards the end, but he starts rippin'! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foXSXOAfB4U
