How nerdy are you

89, which was probably about when this was written. I mean, graphing calculators and periodic tables? Come on. How much more can you cater to the junior high crowd?

96!

My only complaint was that they didn't have any higher math education to choose from.

You have to email him that complaint to get the other 4%.

Huh, 7%. "Definitely not nerdy, you're probably cool." That must be why I'm eating Nilla Wafers in a house by myself while browsing an Internet forum.

Got a score of 19. Not too nerdy.

But that quiz did remind me of a proudly nerdy moment. Back at college, I used to work at the Audio-Visual Department (not as nerdy as it sounds). And we got a shipment of compressed air cans. Of course people turned them upside down and shot things. Not I. I decided to take the inside tube from one of the overhead projector acetate rolls and attach it to the nozzle of the compressed air can. Then I turned it upside down. The result was quite surprising as first, no spray came out. We were all confused but then we noticed the tube was getting considerably colder. Then suddenly the contents of the can shot out of the tube in a mist form, kinda like firing off a fire extinguisher. We were amazed. We had just made a nasty li'l freeze ray.

And that's my nerd moment.

Not nerdy, but definitely not hip.
(this seems to mean I could answer the maths and science questions but I know bugger all about computers)

Why are:
Calculus
Theory and Logic
Elementary Differential Equations
Linear Algebra

regarded as different 'levels' of mathematics? I've studied all of them, they're just different streams, not quantitative rankings (did that just increase my score?)

Add one percent and they drop the "s". I'm "lightly nerdy"

I assumed they were indexed according to when they are most commonly taken in university. At my school it goes

Math 121: Calculus
Math 123: Theory and Logic
Math 241: Linear Algebra
Math 251: Differential Equations
Math 310: Graph Theory
etc, etc...

Some of these are pre-requisites to others, so it is fair to label them lower levels of math.

Niveous, you deserve some extra nerd points for refering to 15-20 yr. old Marvel comics characters and story arcs (ie the Beyonder and Infinity Wars) on an online bulletin board. :P

Wait, crap. I guess I deserve a few, also, just for knowing what you were talking about. :(

Hmm...well, I'm just a dumb ol' engineer - not a proper maths nerd anyway - I did Calculus, Linear Algebra, Logic and Statistics in first year - followed by Vector Calculus and Diffential Equations in 2nd year - and this was more than enough time for me to draw the conclusion that Mathematics acedemics are probably one of the strangest forms of life on the planet.

My nerd score is 9

Apparantly I despise nerds. Which isn't true. I find the look quite attractive actually.

Does anyone see past the ears on that woman? Maybe if it was a man ...
