I'll have Suzanne Malveaux's baby, thank you. Stay at home and be a house guy, too.

File under "I Can't Believe That I'm Actually Doing This": Tonight I am going to my 25th Anniversary High School reunion. Never been to one, and have long said that I'd only ever go to the 50th if still alive. Nervous, excited, sickened, curious. Good, bad, or both, I suppose it'll be a trip. I'm sure there's plenty of people that I both do and don't want to see, I'm most looking forward to being surprised. Wish me luck.

Unrelated to the QotD, but I'm pleased to report that we were dismembering an old Toshiba laptop the other night and I found a replacement CD Writer for my Yamaha AW16 recorder! The writer never worked entirely properly, and way back in 2005, I was in contact with Yamaha, trying (unsuccessfully) to get (or even order and pay for) a replacement. Yamaha has been of no help whatsoever; the original recorder was always extremely picky about CD blanks and finally stopped writing altogether a couple years ago. Pulled this one out of the laptop, attached the mounting bracket, stuck it in the recorder and it worked!

This means that I will be able to actually back up the individual tracks for stuff I record, which I haven't been able to do for a long time. Also, able to mix on the machine and then write the mix off to a CD. Unfortunately, I've reformatted the hard drive a couple times since I was doing any songfight stuff, but maybe it will inspire me to get going again...

If something inspires you to get going again, I'm all for it. Long live the King!

QotD: No more babies, thank you. The ones I've got are awesome, and enough.

I like Malcolm Turnbull. He is the second maddest Leader of the Opposition we've had this decade.

He may drop to 3rd maddest if they replace him with Mr "People Skills".

But I'd like to see Malcolm leave politics and maybe join up with Mark Latham to do a sitcom. They could be two ex Opposition leaders who live together and solve crimes. Godwin Gretch cold be the wacky next-door neighbour.

Judging by your Facebook photos - it looks like you had a good time! And you didn't seem to need luck - looks like you had the ladies eating out of your hand!

I have never been to a school reunion. That sucks. People in my class were too lazy to organise one. And I haven't lived in Newcastle for ages - so it was a bit hard for me to organise myself. My wife had one a few years ago, with a family picnic organised the next day. I couldn't go cos I was away somewhere. Probably for the best - my wife went to school with one of the members of the Go-Betweens - I would have been horrible, drooling fan-boy all day.

Yeah, I enjoyed the reunion and probably had more fun than I figured I would have. I called a couple of people the wrong name, and there was one guy I blatantly snubbed, and he me, but I got a kick out of all those old faces, the hugging bit, and even the dreaded "So what do you do now?". Too bad you didn't have one, Ray. Drooling fan-boy aside, our same age and out of school gap might have presented similar experiences. 25 years of life, careers, kids, etc. Put on a chairman's cap and put it together!

Yeah - we must be exactly the same age - it would be my 25th reunion this year too.

I know my school has an annual "Old Boys" dinner and Mass (Catholic school) - but I haven't lived in Newy for 20 years, so I haven't been for ages. But it is for everyone who has ever been to the school - not for just a specific year. I still see my close mates from school, and we go on holidays together every year. I saw them a few weeks ago when I got back from NZ and we discussed getting a reunion together. Of the 8 of us, we were pretty evenly mixed between "Great idea!" (me), "I don't want to see those pricks again" and "Who? i don't remember anyone else at school".

Born in May '66. If I remember right, and please don't be disturbed if I am, your birthday is coming up in December. Not the 25th, though, like that BLT Christ character. :)
