Okay, assuming that Caravan Ray will be writing the song about why certain X-Files episodes are more beloved than others... must find another idea...

I've never actually seen the X-files - so you've lost me there (though I assume it has something to do with the tasty looking red-headed sheila I've seen pictures of). I also don't understand the title of this thread. I dunno, you kids nowadays....it's like you speak a different language

Not fond of this title, but I'm still on a high from Nur Ein, so I'll see if I can't force something out.

So, okay, I started writing this song:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/shootingstar27/2419211235/

...and then it inspired me in a bit of a different direction (on the back of the same envelope, even :-), so I have some lyrics... it's gonna be another King Arthur song about the difficulties of impending geezerhood, but I guess nobody else is gonna write King Arthur songs, so it's up to me...

Could someone illuminate me on the finer points of this Songfight title? Searching the internets did me no favors. In fact, I ran across a few NSFW items -which is a troubling thing to do whilst on lunch break.

They don't all relate to something. Some titles are independent of other references-- so you need to dig deep and craft a story or message appropriate to the title.

Unless you want to use one of those NSFW items, this time the Internet isn't doing your work for you.

Did you find Dress up Dana? Eminently SFW, or SFG anyway.

Like Caravan Ray, I was trying to figure out how "You know the drill" related to "Dana wears dresses." Was there a cross-dressing Dana in a military situation, say M*A*S*H or Catch-22? Or did it maybe have something to do with dentistry? Looks like it was a wild goose chase.

Not that I have time for an entry this week anyway.

Hmm... well, the star of China Beach (about the Vietnam War) was Dana Delaney. But I only remember her wearing green army fatigues. Probably not related to this title.

In some cases, this being one of those, the title of the thread is more meta than at other times. In this case, it refers to the long-standing history of the prefight thread, which was originally just named by the title with the words "prefight thread" in parenthesis. It has always bothered me to name a thread with the word "thread", so I try to be creative. In this case, I just decided that my little bit of creativity was getting a bit old, and everyone knows what this thread is for anyway. Thus, "you know the drill".

No reference to the actual title was intended or should be inferred.

Apparently there is a cotton weave called "drill," and you can buy a "drill dress." This quite apart from the "drill dress" required by some military or quasi-military institutions, including some private schools I'm glad I know nothing else about.

If not for Spud, I would never have been able to discuss these things!

But this is called "Dana wears dresses," not "Dana un dresses."

Wow, this is an ugly title. So far only the Swedish Chef interpretation is doing anything for me... "Dan-a-ware-sa-dresses"

Which is total shit.

I remember having great trouble writing something for "Your New Dress". Why another dress title within the year? Oh well.

Despite my reluctance to write about dresses, I have a chorus. We'll see if more develops...

Despite my generally great enthusiasm for writing about dresses (and the girls who wear them), I'm not coming up with anything that would make a good song...
