Once upon a time there was a state legislature that tried with all its might
To join the republican war on woman and reproductive rights
They debated a bill that would all but outlaw abortion in their state
Rep. Lisa Brown she tried to speak, as part of the debate

She used a word that began with the 22nd letter
It’s a medical term for the part of the body, no one could describe it better
It’s a part of the body that the bill is going to regulate and control
But when she stated to speak this is what she was told

You’re not allowed to speak
if you use that word
Mentioning the part of the anatomy that we regulate,
how absurd
We should take precautions, ban all words that start with “V”
Only then will our country truly be free

So no more very or various, and voluminous is unspoken
Victory and volleyball are just .. can I say verboten
Veins and vacuums and varnishes, words that are now banished
And Valentine’s day I guess you can say, might have to vanish

You’re not allowed to speak
