Happy Tell A Lie Day.
There has a lot of talk about Songfight Live lately, so my question of the day is:
QotD: What has been your favorite Songfight Live/ Presents performance?

Re: 4/4/13- SFL/SFP
I was pretty blown away when Alex (aka Bad Boys at Bat Mitzvahs) took the stage in New York. I wasn't fond of any of the recordings he submitted to Song Fight, but when he was on stage with just an acoustic guitar, he turned out to be highly engaging and charismatic. I still wish he'd submit recordings that utilize this strength a bit better.
I also really enjoyed Ben Kreiger's performance in New York. His recordings were great, but they're often so busy and ornate that I didn't think they would translate well to solo acoustic guitar. I was wrong; it worked really well.
ADD in Seattle last year was really fun, largely because Jefff seemed to be having a lot of fun himself (I think he was drunk?), and he just let loose.
Glenn Case in Seattle last year was great for a number of reasons, mostly pertaining to how well he recovered when the batteries died in his Ovation. Oh, right, and the way he dealt with that heckler who was trying to detune his guitar.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Kasper's set in Spokane back in 2009. Those guys rock.
And if I can be selfish for a little bit here, I felt like my own set in San Francisco in 2010 had a few moments that approached perfection. It was amazing to look up during "Back to the Well" and see everyone smiling and dancing.

BBABM's Tim Buckley cover of 'Song to the Siren' he presented to me for my GOM ... I liked that very much. It was characteristic and cool

Re: 4/4/13- SFL/SFP
today is fun at work.
I'm having a Paco del Stinko day. Streaming the 140 regular fight PDS songs!
3 hours deep, on #59. thanks Charlie for keeping me going through the work day!
EDIT: 7 hours , 6 minutes, and Zero seconds of Paco del Stinko!
I could listen to more! What a journey through the past 6 years that was.The weird thing to me was, none of those songs were unfamiliar. I've been listening.
I didn't realize Paco was the 10,000th song when I started the PDS day. It is appropriate that he is the 10,000th song!

I heard tale that if you listen to Paco del Stinko for 3 hours straight, you start playing guitar like Ace Frehley.

That is indeed true. But you only play half as well.BLT wrote:I heard tale that if you listen to Paco del Stinko for 3 hours straight, you start playing guitar like Ace Frehley.
Glen: I feel for your co-workers. Hell, I feel for YOU! Flattered, though. Hope there were some chuckles and cool sounds.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Re: 4/4/13- SFL/SFP
To finish the day off, after 7 plus hours of Paco, I had 90 minutes of Madness. Read into that as you will. My crew enjoyed the Paco. There's not many bands you can listen to 7 hours of and not get bored. Paco, you're in the company of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles , and Zappa.
If all the Nur Ein entries except Last Call were easily streamable, I would have gone there next. ( JK, Last Call is a fine song, I just hated losing to it)
