4/12/13- Reefer Madness
Took a sick day yesterday but now I'm back to work and feeling the best I have in a week.
Happy National Reach as High as You Can Day.
QotD: What are your feelings about marijuana?
Do you smoke? Do you support its legalization?
Personally, I don't drink or smoke or do any of that kind of stuff but I don't mind if others do. More power to them.
(No, the holiday has nothing to do with getting high, it's actually about knowing one's limitations and setting realistic goals)

Re: 4/12/13- Reefer Madness
Never! But I had friends in the 70s and 80s who did, so I know all the lingo from being around them
I wish they had done a little less, and they don't anymore except like twice a year.
But other than that, it's another thing to use with good judgement.
I seem recall they would get tremendously creatively inspired by it at times.

I used to love the weed but have not smoked in 5 or 6 years. I am done with it although I support its legalization. Moderation is indeed the key there, a rule I didn't always follow.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

I'm all for legalization. I'm not a daily smoker because I don't have the ailments to legally posses and smoke it. But believe me, the first sign of ANY medical issue when I get old and retire-y, I will be stoned as f**k everyday.
The things I've learned about cannabis over the past couple years from watching The Tokin Daily Show are amazing. Of course he'll admit he's just a stoner with a great love for weed and wants learn everything he can about it. But he has guests on his show that do know a lot about cannabis and he will talk about facts and discoveries as well. Plus he is a grower and works in a wellness center, so he's up on the benefits, culture and latest strains. I had no idea that a stativa and indica are choices and everyone reacts differently to each. When I'd just buy weed from my local stoner friend, you just get what he has. I just thought those times I got all speedy and paranoid or other times when I got relaxed and comfortable were just potency differences. I had no idea it was the strain. It turns out that I like Indica because it effects me more in the way to make me less anxious and allows me to focus better because it has a higher level of Cannabidiol. Who knew?
My body is overly sensitive to upper type chems like caffeine, sugar, cocaine, etc. If I drink too much iced tea, I get the jitters, lose my apatite and feel very restless. Yes, I know that's the idea, but most people need that "pick me up". I'm the opposite, I need to relax to function. That's why alcohol is my go to happy juice, lol. But if I monitor my stimulant intake, I'm at optimum brain function. IE: my morning coffee. No more than two cups is great, but god forbid I eat donuts with those two cups. I'll be climbing the walls for the next 5 hours. Just two cups is making me do all this thinking and typing right now. My head is very clear and focused.
There are SO many hybrid strains now and the natural medical "alternative" value for people is awesome! But most importantly is that there are over 60 Cannabinoids in the plant that specifically target and activate cannabinoid receptors in the body. Basically, cannabis can help the body work properly or even heal it's self by activating cannabinoid that aren't working properly. Some of this study is as recent as the 80s. "At present, there are two known types of cannabinoid receptors, termed CB1 and CB2,[1] with mounting evidence of more.[4] The human brain has more cannabinoid receptors than any other G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) type"
I don't know why, but I find all of this stuff fascinating. It's as if the pharmaceutical industry has been copying the miracles of nature, making synthetic version with terrible side effects, like explosive diarrhea, then brainwashing people that they will die with out it. But in reality, you can just grow it in your backyard.
Of course hemp is also a useful aspect. So really, the plant is very resourceful. It can make you a nice pair of pajamas and help cure your insomnia. Thank you mother nature, you are always so thoughtful and caring. Now sing me soft kitty and rub my chest.

Re: 4/12/13- Reefer Madness
I've only been high once, from some cookies. It was an interesting experience. At the time I was pretty freaked out but in retrospect it was just a thing. I don't think I'll make a habit of it. It did have the interesting and beneficial effect of making an ongoing stomach problem I'd had go away for a few months though. (This one time was the inspiration for this comic.)
I'm in favor of its legalization. It's no worse than alcohol in terms of immediate and long-term effects, and it's way less addictive. Most of the "war on drugs" is really just the war on drug dealers, and most of the cited problems with a lot of drugs (especially marijuana) have nothing to do with the drug itself and everything to do with its legality. Way to circular-logic, there, anti-drug folks.

Have you ever actually felt hemp cloth? I wouldn't want to wear pajamas made out of that!Billy's Little Trip wrote:Of course hemp is also a useful aspect. So really, the plant is very resourceful. First, I don't know why I said "is also a useful aspect" lol. Why did I say aspect?fluffy wrote:Have you ever actually felt hemp cloth? Yeah, hemp pajamas would be scratchy I'd think. Most hemp clothing items I've seen look like burlap. But I'd imagine some hippies know how to soften it. Like grow the plant with soothing music and water it with rainbow dew.

By the way, edibles are great for those that don't like smoke. It comes in a lot of forms these days. One is an oil extract that is used in the smokeless electric cigarettes that vaporizes it with water. I'm curious about those and want to try it.

The cookies I had were made using the "cannabutter" method. They were incredibly potent, but took a while to kick in, and so it probably wasn't the best way for me to have my first THC experience.

Re: 4/12/13- Reefer Madness
There is a wellness restaurant in Denver that Tokin has taken his camera to for an episode called the Ganga Gourmet. It's owned and operated by a schooled chef. Everything is fancy cuisine (French I think) and the desserts looked amazing. Plus it's a store attached to the restaurant and they package and sell all of their pies, cookies and candies, etc. Of course you have to be a med card holder, so I guess that makes it pretty exclusive, lol.

Now that Washington has come to its senses, I can freely admit to partaking occassionally. The rest of the country should follow our lead - it's generally less harmful and less addictive than tobacco or alcohol, both of which are legal.
