In other news,

I have been doing this listening to the archive thing. With each fight I listen to I have been ranking the songs from best to worst (imo, at least). Well, my computer just crashed out of the blue- taking 6 days worth of the work with it. :(

Are you using a text document to do this? What exactly did you lose? You might want to use a process that backsup to the cloud.

I don't even want to try to count the Songfighters I've met, because I'll definitely forget someone, and then they'll be mad at me. :)

Been using a text document and a spreadsheet. What I lost was any information I had filled in from 6-21 onwards, which means I lost the rankings for about 25 fights or so.

I would use a process that backsup to a cloud if I didn't do the majority of the project while offline. Sigh. It's my fault for doing a project of this scope without sufficient backups in place.

You can work offline, but then it backs up when you're next online in the background. That way you only ever lose what you've done since being online last. Plus, you could access your work from other places if need be.

I think I'm gonna take that crash as a sign and focus on other projects for a while before returning to this one. It's all for my tenth anniversary anyway and that's still months away.

And I'll find a good cloud to put the project in.

I use Crashplan as my offsite backup mechanism. The software is free and you can set up your own private backup cloud amongst your multiple home computers, laptop, etc., and for like $6/month you get access to their hosted cloud as well with "unlimited" storage (so far I'm keeping like 2TB on it and they haven't complained).

My list of met songfighters is gigantic and basically if you've ever been to a Song Fight Live or one of the West coast "presents" events (e.g. the short-lived tour series, SpudFest, etc.) I've probably met you at some point.

I've met lots of you but probably don't know your name because that's the joke, isn't it?
