28 June 2013
I am solely posting to announce (not that anybody really cares) that I have a new job, and will be starting Monday at Pandora. I'm excited!
QOTD: The last time you got a new job, was it a change for the better, or worse? Or TBD?

Congratulations! Hopefully you're helping them with their music matching formula.

I won't be working on the radio product at all, I'm in a group doing internal tools to try to help them make more money, at least for the first year that I'll be there.

I worked with Chris Martin's group, who supported our needs doing technical audits on all the device players and reproducing their royalty statements. Fun place.
My last job change was great. I was hating consulting after 12 years. Lincoln Center is a dream job.

Woo! I know you'd applied there before and didn't end up working there, but it's nice that you got there eventually.
My last job change was hella for the better. And I don't use the word "hella" lightly. Sony was driving me nuts, San Francisco was driving me nuts, and I had to get the hell back to Seattle. The fact that Amazon was trying to recruit me back, and into a group that wasn't as insane as the last one I was in, was very helpful.

hmm, my last job change was 1997, so i think it was for the better. i like the people i work with a lot.
speaking of pandora, i'm so glad i gave a stack of my cds to the founder guy at the townhall meeting. i think my songs are pretty popular there. i got a very nice royalty check the other day from soundexchange and a lot of it was pandora plays.
my most popular song is "On the Maginot Line", by a long shot.

fluffy, mail me a CD, and I will see what I can do. From what I hear, if you're an employee and you have a CD it's pretty feasible to get it into their system, though usually that's for the employee's own music/band. But I'd be happy to give it a shot with your CD too if you'd like.

Thanks! Could i just give you download codes for my albums and you can burn 'em or something? That'd be quicker. :)Lunkhead wrote:fluffy, mail me a CD, and I will see what I can do. Re: 28 June 2013
I could try that. Although, the examples I've been given of people getting their stuff into Pandora have involved "releases", as in, a non-CD-R CD with packaging, etc. So I can't guarantee that a CD-R will work.

Re: 28 June 2013
Also I can't guarantee this will work at all. I'm wondering now if I'm saying things on a public forum that I should not be saying ... perhaps this thread needs to mysteriously disappear.

I'll just mail you my CDs then. PM me your address. I don't seem to have it.
