no doubt songs you write change what they mean to you, as time moves on.
of course this is mostly because YOU change as time moves on, some people more and some less, so naturally you relate to any text, wether it's yours or not, differently.

i don't know what's so surprising about the fact that virtual instruments software is uncapable of mimicing a real instrument perfectly. as much as software designers try to "humanize" parameters, it's still a long way from sounding as it should in reality.

Hostess Mostess: Oh this is so Billy Joel, fabulous steady bass beat intro, beautiful vocals (as always), beautiful lyrics and terrific backing track, I love the way the guitar briefly steps in front of the vocals, then drops back behind, an extremely simple track yet so together. NINE POINTS i als...

a whole in the bass head really isn't necessary when it's for performing only.
if you want to record with it, then it's worth the work.
it allows you to position mics more closely and get different sounds.

the best thing to do if wanting to improve on vocal skills is to go to a proffesioanl coach, theres no other way to really improve. seeking information on the web will simply not do.

i think putting distortion on drums sounds terrible - it's just adds plain noise and doesn't do anything good for the drum track or the whole mix, especially if the mix is full of distortion already.
