I'm not sure what they call it in your parts...but 'stuffing' is basically a bread casserole. It gets its name because it's breading and spices that are usually jammed into some foul's emptied carcass before it is baked in an oven where the fats and juices drip into the breading during the roast.

Very delicious. It's like bread pudding but ... not.
yeah - I know what stuffing is - but where does the sausage come into it? Are you stuffing sausage mince into a chicken? You are, aren't you! Sausage mince in a chicken! I'll be buggered.

...and speaking of mince and Christmas - the English really piss me off. I used to have a drummer with an English wife, and we were at their place one Christmas and she offered around "mince pies" and I said - Yeah!, thinking it was a proper pie with meat in it - but I bit into it and it had fruit in it!!! Thats right - fucking FRUIT!!!! Who puts fruit in a pie and calls it 'mince'? Apparently its some sort of 'traditional English Christmas fare' - well they can jam that up their arses, I'm telling you right now...but I tell you what I wouldn't mind - one of those chickens stuffed with sausages - that'd be alright....

Many people think "mincemeat" and "minced meat" are the same thing.

(They're not.)

Sausage and poultry go together <a href="http://beesbuzz.biz/blog/e/2005/08/06-c ... xceedingly well</a>.

I believe that stuffing is cooked inside of a bird, pork chop, whatever, and it is called dressing when cooked on it's own like a casserole. No 'stove top' stuffing, unless you consider it a stuffed pot. And get your elbows off the table! :)

The sausage is just an ingrediant. You can use ground sausage meat, similar to hamburger and minus the casing, cook it up and mix it with the bread crumbs and crammed into the uh, cavity. My dad used to make it and after first going "huh?" I found it quite delicious.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Here's the recipe that my family's sausage stuffing evolved from:

Well - WHY NOT. That's what I want to know. When did "mincemeat" become fucking fruit!!

I mean - a meat pie is a meat pie. More commonly known as a "rats coffin", sure when you bite into one - you don't know what is actually in there, sure it likely to be one of the more uncommonly eaten meats - you expect a bit of cat or rat or possum or horse or whatever - but you expect meat, you expect the earthly remains of some mammal (or possibly reptile) to be minced up, smothered in gravy and encased in pastry - I don't want stinking fruit passing itself off as a meat pie.

It is just wrong

One of the fun things about Songfight is the clash of cultures and resulting enlightenment!

I have the same gripe with corned beef hash. The shiz won't burn and it makes my bong smell like dog food!

.....and don't even get me started on breadfruit.

I like breadfruit. If you get firm, unripe breadfruit, slice it thinly and deep-fry till crispy and salt liberally - it makes an excellent chip. Fried breadfruit chips was my main snacking food and beer accompaniment in the 2 years I lived in Kiribati.

I don't think I've ever seen breadfruit for sale in Aus.

...and I learnt somthing new about swimming pool maintenance yesterday! If you have cane toads breeding in your spa - don't pour a shitload of hydrochloric acid in there to kill them - because the bloke in the pool-shop will call you an idiot.

You idiot!

By the way, what is the texture and taste of breadfruit? From your description, it sounds like a potato or yam. I've always imagined it more as an eggplant type thing. Is it sweet, tart, starchy?
