Somehow, I got a 75...

Maybe certain behaviors in a 50+ year old are considered more nerdy than the same behavior in an 18 year old.

Well, that and going to bed by 10 pm on Friday night after finishing up one's homework. But, ya know, for different reasons...

Who'da thought ol' KA was 2.2058823529411764705882352941176 times as nerdy as Jim of Seattle...

I'm 86.

Caravan's right about the math levels--linear algebra and logic are certainly
not higher forms of math than calculus.

Also, for the E=mc^2 question, I assume that they expect slight nerds to answer "speed of light" and real nerds to answer "2.99792x10^8 m/s".
However, if that's true, that ignores the possibility that an even nerdier person might answer with the more accurate "speed of light", since it's actually 2.99792458x10^8 m/s. I could be wrong on my assumption, but either way it's a dumb question for leaving those possibilities.

There. 87, bitch.

It's settled, then. Jim Tyrell, Lunkhead, and I must form a collaboration called "The 71 nerd club" or something.

And Jim: Picard (gasp)

I don't think anybody mentioned one form of math being a "higher form" than another. Instead I'm very sure the question is trying to gauge how much math you have taken. In which case it is probably pretty accurate, because if you've taken Differential Equations or Linear Algebra you've probably (or, at my school, mandatorily) taken Calculus.

98.1287% of nerds can't pass up the chance to use an awkward statistic or constant that they have memorized. Seriously, how many times have you heard some nerd rattle off 5 or more digits of Pi, when just saying Pi would suffice? I hear that sort of thing daily.

What bugged me was the units were all wrong. In practice C is the speed of light in centimeteres per second. Pedantic and obscure.

You see, even doing the quiz makes you a nerd. the rest is irrelevant. Hey, even clicking on the link makes you pretty nerdy.

Now, that's irony, kids. I do love the hypothetical nerd that people use when they are showing off their extra bits of knowledge - I ask you: 'a real nerd would say ...' - you ain't fooling anyone!

So this hypothetical nerd needs a name. I suggest Martyn. With a mandatory Y.

As tech support? Sounds like you're qualified for it - there where plenty of computer questions in there.

P.S. Hoblit, said with a chuckle. Not wanting to insult you or anything in case you actually are tech support.

Sonofabitch. I got 71 too.

I answered "speed of light." Those constants looked familiar as the speed of light, but I couldn't remember what the units were supposed to be. I guess 71 is pretty good for a painting major.

Nerd and geek are very alike, but things like D&D, Sci Fi, and Slashdot are geeky but not really nerdy. Things like pocket protectors and doing your homework are more nerdy and less geeky. IMO.

If Sober, Lunkhead, and C Hack want to collab sometime on a SongFight as the 71 Nerd Club or something, I'm up for it.
Of course, doing so will up our collective nerd factor by a few points.

It should be the 71 Percent Nerd Club or 71% Nerd Club.
That would be cool.
