Halfway through recording this, "Terrapin Station" suddenly popped in my head. I think it's the noodling up on the 10th and 12th frets on the fourth 'verse' measures. Also some of my vocal delivery sounds a little Jerry. Interesting, cause I didn't think I had it in me!

actually, it reminded me alot of something jerry might do solo later in his career. he had this knack for doing odd covers (like daniel lanois' "the maker", which was awesome) and your tune reminded me of something he/they would do. cool arrangement (terrapinesque?), and i think you're right, you did some stuff vocally that made me think jerry as well.

The one on the double-disk live set "Shining Star" is v good, as is the title track... I like that album. I figured you could find some on archive.org, but they seem to have no Jerry Garcia even though there are 2800+ Grateful Dead shows (weird). Maybe somewhere else on the net.

I just tried to quickly do reviews before taking off for the weekend. Once I got to Eddiebangs's song, I stopped thinking that everybody's songs sounded like ass, and realized that there was something wrong with my audio interface. Everything sounded like 64kbps mono! So I restarted and that fixed the problem but now I don't have time to do reviews. Overall I thought it was a solid fight, with some really good entries. I'm curious where DJ3XHC got those samples. I don't have many other specific comments at this point. I'll do reviews when I get back in town Monday night perhaps.

Loyalty Day.
What can I say, I like our song. These vocals were recorded using Ken's laptop in the guest bedroom of my apartment in SanFrancisco, which was kind of an experiment. I really think Sam's guitar is what makes this song. Ken's drums, and Rhodes are solid per usual. Here's hoping our Late-nite Sunday efforts paid off!

The intro gets me. I'm transported to some funky-psychadelic childrens program. Oh wait, those lyrics aren't for the kiddies at home! Do you like the DeadMilkmen? Your sorta sounding like a folky version of them.

The beginning has sort of a mod-esque feel to it. Very 60's Brit-pop. I'm liking the whole concept, except something about the synch up half way through the chorus sounds a bit off. Maybe it's on purpose? Hmmmm. Either way, catchy little tune.

congrats to loyalty day on the win. i listened to this fight a couple times in the background (turned the speakers up while i was in the next room staining baseboards and window frames) and, while i didn't really pay enough attention to do full reviews, i wanted to share a few impressions.

overall i liked pretty much all the songs, except the electronic one with all the synth cuss words. that one i deleted from the playlist for the second and third times through.

the first song (ashok henley, it appears) was a little bit disappointing as a lead-in to the rest of the fight, because it was written okay as far as i could tell, but just lacked a lot of excitement and interest.

the rest of the songs were pretty decent, or at least average. ryan rickenbach's wasn't my favourite, but i found it to be the most memorable, especially the chorus. to me, the stand-out tracks were eddiebangs, loyalty day, and the last one (stolar skye). if i had bothered voting, it would probably have been that one or else eddie's.

i also just wanted to point out the 11 second one about potatoes was pretty much genius. in the way that "i like to eat a sandwich" was genius. it encapsulated the title of the fight perfectly, and expressed a very simple emotion very tersely, and i really liked it. i guess it's one of those things that either you 'get it' and appreciate it, or you think it's a worthless piece of trash. either way, i thought it was very witty, as long as you never have another entry just like that again. then it turns into a bad gimmick.

anyway, nice fight everyone (except DJwhosawhatsit) and hopefully in the near(ish) future i'll get back into the habit of doing 'real' reviews of fights on occasion.
