well, i don't change my title choice so close to the deadline b/c i usually work on melody, lyrics and arrangement well ahead during the week. i only get saturday morning and afternoon to record, so i need to have everything ready to go by then.

that said, i do check the pre-fight thread and cringe every now and then. "ahh man, everybody's doing the one i picked..."

[sigh] c'est la vie.

Not me. I end up doing whichever title my muse drives me to. I also figure that I will probably never get enough votes to win one of these things so it doesn't really matter who else is in it.

Basket of Hands is taking out sucka MCs with "We Are Perfect in Our Dreams." No evocation of Tom Waits though, sadly.

No, but I did breath a sigh of relief knowing my song wouldn't be completed in time AND that it would seemingly be the biggest fight of the bunch.

Anyway, I'm out. Dammit! It would've been the first time I had back to back entries.

Good luck to the rest of you.

Ok, I'm in for "She Gave Up," I hope the sneak preview at Songfight!LA won't have spoiled my chances (remember, I'm expecting no rip-offs).

Ross

PS - I just go for the title I like, but I do often have an "Oh, Damn" moment when I see certain other people submitting for the same title. My dream is to one day be one of those guys :-)

oh man, 4 hrs? and I bet it'll still be better than mine!

...and I guess I always go for the title which seems most interesting to me, but it is a relief to see Gert entering the 1 fight I had no input in. just so I can enjoy their song more

haha, but 4 hours and i mix stuff. 5 hours i mix stuff again and ive already submitted the song twice so i cant really change stuff and submit it again. haha. i dont like the tone of the vocals in my song but hopefully people wont hate my song because of it. im gonna redo the vocals and mix later when i eventually put my stuff onto a cd. ill probably end up slightly redoing most of the songs ive submitted.

Well, for better or worse, I'm in for We Are Perfect In Our Dreams, my first entry in almost exactly ten months. And it's my second entry ever. I am nothing if not slow, and this song is certainly a testament to that.

I feel that way every time I enter. I think I secretly wish that mine will be the only entry in the fight. Which would actually suck. Which is funny because it's always fun to hear better songs than mine with the same title. Lots of "oh! I wish I'd done that!"

When I'm working on a song, it's my baby and I don't want it to get beaten up by bigger songs. But once it's posted under the name "Hostess Mostess", it doesn't feel so much mine anymore. I think that's why I use the pseudonym---it takes the sting out of entering something sub-par. Maybe I'll put "Hostess Mostess" to bed and start entering things under my real name. That would be weird.

..but I can't be bothered writing one? Then just check the lyrics posts for those eager beavers who get in early and steal their lyrics!

But do you have the kind of voice that can rhyme "pain" with "thing", without sounding like an affectation?
