Asperse: The kid talk is the best element of this track. Some of the singing is pleasant, but the song doesn’t really go anywhere for 4.5 minutes, and the plodding kick drum gets pretty annoying after a while. Perhaps it’s just too loud in the mix. This song might have benefited from a melodic bass line to make things more interesting.

Basket of Hands: Once the Most Painful Intro of 2006 is out of the way, this isn’t bad. Some funny moments, and I like the outro. More importantly, any track that name-checks Rone Rivendale is going straight into my collection!

Destruction Enterprise: Dudes, I’m still baffled as to how and why anyone would submit a rap song with poor meter. Extra takes are free – so please take one! You guys must look really funny dancing.

Eclectic Spoons: This is the first ES track I’ve enjoyed. I like the sung melody, and the music is harsh yet catchy in an odd way. Not bad.

Hostess Mostess: This is well-executed in terms of production and performance, but musically not to my taste.

Jeff Henderson: This is well done! No real criticism to offer here. Good vocals and lyrics, and nice production. If I had to grade this, I’d give it a solid B+.

Jim F: File does not play for me either.

Jordan Seavers: Another excellent entry from our resident Boy Genius! Dude, when do you sleep? One of these days, I’m going to burn my JS collection onto CD, buy a convertible, hire a girl, and drive down to California. Thanks for the inspiration!

Ken Woodard: Music to drink yourself to death by. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for that right now.

Level Nivelo: Guitar is pretty out of tune, and so are the lyrics. I can actually ignore the former more easily than the latter in this case. As a joke, it’s juvenile, but it made me laugh.

Melvin: For those who have asked, I have cheap gear and mostly free software, but I've refined my recording skillz over time (this is my 403rd home recording). Sometimes I wish my writing was less conventional, but it seems whenever I "try" to change it up, it just doesn't work. So I go with what comes naturally. Some find that boring.

Radio North: Love the intro, but it kind of falls apart when the vocals come in. For some reason, I think if the vocals were louder, their quirky character would become an asset. Give it a try.

Renedo: [REMOVED - admin]

Return of the Dankity Dank: We Are Perfect In Our Nightmares.

Thornberry: I don’t know what happened. I used to think, “Thornberry, whateverâ€

yea, i think it's funny when people online talk shit like there hardcore or something, and in real life they are sissy little babies. i live in milwaukee, if anyone wants to come to milwaukee to personaly belitle, or insult me, they can feel free, i'll give you directions....

k- the sophmoric stupidity is out of the way.

thanks for all the reviews folks. someone comented on the voclas being tiny, which is a problem i had no way to get around, i had to record using an old telephone, (which i hacked up ton) it was out of necesity, and if i'd had a mic that was good, probably would have done multi tracking, with some of the tinny phone vocals, and some of the better.... but it's a good comment.

i'll respond to more in a bit. my band mate (from my rock/roll band) is asking me about practice.

It's weird that not just the song was removed, but the reviews. Like it never even existed. This is apparently what happens when you fuck with Caravan Ray.

Or possibly it's the new punishment for entering more than one fight.

If it is....I approve of the new stern dominatrix style of the administration :-)

Why would there be a punishment for entering more than one fight?

That is correct, Mr. Robertson.

You can, but why? You've only got a week or so. Why not put all of your effort into making one entry as good as you can make it? There is no award for most entries in a week.

Hmmm...

Steve, your end quote is one that I had heard before, but attributed to Frank Zappa. So I just googled it and came up with this:

<a href="http://home.pacifier.com/~ascott/they/t ... daa.htm</a>

It's something of a mystery.

So, It looks like maybe it ought to be Elvis Costello. I think I'll just change the attribution to say "Unknown"

I did finish my song but I wasn't satisfied with it so I didn't send it in. I figured I was doing everybody a favor: I think people ought to consider whether or not to submit their songs before they do. If your song sucks don't submit it, because it's going to get a crappy review--as it should--and it'll just waste everybody's time.

I wrote a song about my experience at a strip club last weekend. I fell in love with this stripper and I hope we get MARRIED.

Here's a link, though: MARCUS KELLIS - WE ARE PERFECT IN OUR DREAMS

I suppose that's the answer. It seems to me like the FAQ ought to be changed, as it looks like it contradicts itself.

Althought the fightmasters would prefer that people enter only one fight a week, we have not yet made that a hard and fast rule. Until we do, we won't be removing entries for that infraction. We will, however, continue to remind people of this request.

On the other hand, there IS a firm rule that songs be written for the fight. Mr. Reneto has clearly violated this rule, by his own admission. This is not the first time we have enforced this rule.
