long term deals for free agents running backs is _always_ a mistake. it's akin to taking a QB first in the draft.kill_me_sarah wrote:I know it's the off-season, but I'd take Matt Hasselbeck over everyone else mentioned. Man, summer has come quick. I love Formula One. So wonderful. Fisichella has always been my favourite, despite his disposition to being in the top three for a few dozen laps then spinning out a lap before the finish.![]()

I watch every race I can, but don't follow it off season. I really, REALLY want to go the the British Grand Prix this year if I can!

(though I must add - since basketball is probably one of the dullest, most predictable and most pointless sports on Earth, nobody really cared)

We were gonna move to a house near where the race track, but not such a hot idea considering the busy-ness and the noise. Good luck on going to see it! The American race is so unbusy, I'd love to go. Speed channel over here showed it last year, and hopefully will this year, I'll have to check.Kamakura wrote:Yeah, the first race is in Bahrain on the 12thBjam wrote:It does?!Kamakura wrote:The Formula one season starts this weekend!

Technically true, but there is no such thing in the NFL as a guaranteed contract. In reality, he signed a three year deal with the option of more, should he play well. It's true.. and EIGHT YEARS! He's gonna need a walker with tennis balls on the legs by the time his contract runs out.
Just because drafting a QB first overall has the potential of failing (and has on occasions) does not make that a surefire rule. People like Brady are the exception, not the rule. Not every prized college QB is a Ryan Leaf or a Tim Couch (or a Vince Young, mark my words).blue wrote:long term deals for free agents running backs is _always_ a mistake. it's akin to taking a QB first in the draft.
Long term deals for running backs are certainly a bad proposition in theory, but again, they're not genuine. Teams have all the power in the contract.
Edited to avoid doublepost:
Please do not compare NASCAR and F1. I do not enjoy racing of any kind, but F1 has merit. NASCAR is the proper target of your ire.

So I just found this awesome mp3 of a song that was going around on Calgary radio stations while the Calgary Flames were making their big run to the stanley cup a few years back. It's pretty awesome. If you want to hear, here's a link.

Oh, Calgary won in game 6. Somehow, the ref and both linesmen managed to 'miss' the goal, though, and Tampon Bay went on to win in overtime, then game 7 as well.Hoblit wrote:Yeah, I vaguely remember that... how did that turn out?jolly roger wrote: while the Calgary Flames were making their big run to the stanley cup a few years back.

My sister's fiance is a big Oilers fan, but he's a bit worried. He says that he'd rather play the Sabres than the Hurricanes.Sven wrote:In case no one noticed, my favorite hockey team is going to the Stanley Cup playoffs!

Well, Sven, your favorite hockey team made what is probably the absolute worst blunder I've ever seen in hockey last night. Sheesh, that was awful. And too bad also since I'd hate to see Carolina win.Sven wrote:In case no one noticed, my favorite hockey team is going to the Stanley Cup playoffs!
