long term deals for free agents running backs is _always_ a mistake. it's akin to taking a QB first in the draft.

Man, summer has come quick. I love Formula One. So wonderful. Fisichella has always been my favourite, despite his disposition to being in the top three for a few dozen laps then spinning out a lap before the finish. :(

(F1 is possibly the only sport I know anything about. :D)
Yeah, the first race is in Bahrain on the 12th
ITV covers it over here http://www.itv-f1.com/

I watch every race I can, but don't follow it off season. I really, REALLY want to go the the British Grand Prix this year if I can! :D

The Opals got the silver medal at the last Olypmics

(though I must add - since basketball is probably one of the dullest, most predictable and most pointless sports on Earth, nobody really cared)

The year is 2025. In a world ravaged by war, out-of-control viruses, pollution, and crazy global-warming-fueled weather, mankind is finally brought together under a single unifying force: hatred of basketball.

It's true.. and EIGHT YEARS! He's gonna need a walker with tennis balls on the legs by the time his contract runs out.

We were gonna move to a house near where the race track, but not such a hot idea considering the busy-ness and the noise. Good luck on going to see it! The American race is so unbusy, I'd love to go. Speed channel over here showed it last year, and hopefully will this year, I'll have to check.

oops - did I say basketball was the dullest sport on Earth? I take that back.

I forgot that some people think that driving cars around in circles is a sport.

It's not circles, it's all twisty turny with many cute drivers and many crashes.

Technically true, but there is no such thing in the NFL as a guaranteed contract. In reality, he signed a three year deal with the option of more, should he play well.

Just because drafting a QB first overall has the potential of failing (and has on occasions) does not make that a surefire rule. People like Brady are the exception, not the rule. Not every prized college QB is a Ryan Leaf or a Tim Couch (or a Vince Young, mark my words).

Long term deals for running backs are certainly a bad proposition in theory, but again, they're not genuine. Teams have all the power in the contract.

Edited to avoid doublepost:

Please do not compare NASCAR and F1. I do not enjoy racing of any kind, but F1 has merit. NASCAR is the proper target of your ire.

but they wear helmets. :) cuteness hardly matters in sports anwyays.* and when they come to indy, there's no twisty-turny. it's just a damn boring loop.

So I just found this awesome mp3 of a song that was going around on Calgary radio stations while the Calgary Flames were making their big run to the stanley cup a few years back. It's pretty awesome. If you want to hear, here's a link.

Oh, Calgary won in game 6. Somehow, the ref and both linesmen managed to 'miss' the goal, though, and Tampon Bay went on to win in overtime, then game 7 as well.

Why do you ask?

My sister's fiance is a big Oilers fan, but he's a bit worried. He says that he'd rather play the Sabres than the Hurricanes.

That's kinda cool that he's on the team though. Which player is he?

I'm pretty sure you were joking about that, but I am related to the guy who rapped in the "In Da Dome" song that I posted. He's my cousin's brother in law or something. Never met him though.

Well, Sven, your favorite hockey team made what is probably the absolute worst blunder I've ever seen in hockey last night. Sheesh, that was awful. And too bad also since I'd hate to see Carolina win.

I couldn't believe it. When their coach was talking to the press he looked like he was going to cry. I don't blame him. Only reasons I would want Carolina to win:
1. Edmontonians would never let us Calgarians hear the end of it.
2. Commodore's on Carolina, and he's just awesome.
