Huh. So much for feeling special. So faux-hxaro person essentially spammed every active member of the sandbox we call SongFight?

At least I know the mystery hxaroianist wasn't Melvin. There's no way in hell he'd invite me to do something musical

And Blue, is that a t-square in your mouth or what?

I'm disappointed too. I thought I had finally received my long-awaited invitation to participate in the community beyond the usual weekly slapfest. Oh well.

Rabid, want to trade Rone covers anyway?!

Heh, sure. Got a deadline in mind?

Blue: YARRRRRRRRR. Glad it looked more like a t-square than a pica pole (I'm a print monkey). That could be misconstrued by some people :!:

a slightly better cover of a bad song is more worthwhile than a dodgy cover of a good song in my book.

anybody scared they won't be up to the challenge? :P nobody calls you chicken, right?

Ha! That's a rather broad allusion to the definition of pop, there (he says, keying the "Dance of the Mad" track into the cd player). But yes, I have chosen my song as well, since Melvin asked with more grace than I could have managed. What good holidays have June, for the target date?

And why, dear gods, am I thinking about Neil Thrun right now?

here's the thing
This should go ahead, but it shouldn't be a Hxaro (I'm not even totally sure what Hxaro means). I mean it's not really a tribute, definitely not in the same way as the other Hxaro's, and I agree that it's not deserving in that sense.

It should be called Lessonfight or something. Teach the musically-challenged what they could've done better :)

part of the reason I'm behind this is that I just want to do a coverfight. I listened to King Arthurs version of Need Stilts and got a craving. I could probably be easily swayed by a better suggestion

If ANYONE wants a cover of one of their songs, PM me and I'll do it. Seriously. It might take me a while, but I like doing interpretations of other people's work.

EDIT: Two Songfighters have taken me up on this so far. One of them will be a significant challenge, but I'm up for it! Don't be shy, PM me! Who wants a cover from the cheesy lounge guy?

And at the risk of feeding this fire... these secret gift-giving parties are NOT hxaro. They are GOOD, don't get me wrong. I participate in as many as I can, and it's always a blast. But if the system includes the question 'does the recipient deserve this' then I don't think you can call it hxaro.

Aw, I feel so left out for not being invited!

/hint

I love covers. I'll join the fray if mystery Hxaro will have me!

Ummm! I got one of these things too, and I would like to do one of Rone's tracks, but I guess in my case it would be sort of 'the blind leading the blind' so expect me to make it worse :)
I'll do 'Rate of Decay' as it's the most recent.... if that's ok?!?

You know, people, if you want to cover a song, you should just cover it. Who needs organized $foo-fests?

Some thoughts: This is not a Hxaro, capital H. That's the territory, so to speak, of those other hooligans with "Hxaro" in their username. This is just... something else. No need to get angry over it. It's just. Something. Else. No pissing on parades, no tearing down of curtains. Only a new game to play for anyone who's interested.

Jim Tyrrell said that hxaro is for people who deserve it. Well, the true spirit of hxaro is that everyone deserves it. Need I say more? Maybe I could throw in a little tidbit about loving each other, but that would just come off sounding like bullshit. Although, it isn't.

And does no one remember that MUM'S THE WORD, PEOPLE!?

PS What Future Boy said. Do watcha want. This little thing is just to encourage people to do just that.

I think I said the exact opposite. What I said was:

"...if the system includes the question 'does the recipient deserve this' then I don't think you can call it hxaro."

In other words (or maybe in the same words, just re-ordered), hxaro is not about whether someone deserves a gift. You and I agree about this. Maybe I just worded it poorly or something.
