I think jolly roger's a smarter musician than both Dan-O and Dan-O's wife. That's just an assumption though--I've never heard Dan-O's wife's music, whether she ever made any or not.
That was really less of an insult to Dan-O and more of a compliment to jolly roger. You could take it as an insult too, though. I won't stop you.
PS I can't play guitar for the life of me. Even Egg, incompetent bastard that he is, can play guitar better than I can.

This is ridiculous. Are gamelan orchestras, Sub-Saharan tribes, Aboriginal didgeroo players, etc, suck-ass musicians?Dan-O from Five-O wrote: all I said was if you can't figure out chord progressions, you're a suck ass musician. If JR meant he couldn't figure out the chord progessions on a certain instrument, then he's a suck ass poster who needs to be more specific.
If you meant that people with some sort of background in common practice period Western music who cannot figure out chord progressions of pieces that fall within those boundaries are suck-ass musicians, then you're a suck-ass poster who needs to be more specific. (And even if that's what you were saying it's still ridiculous, as I'm sure many drummers would have no problem telling you.)

Do you mind explaining just exactly what this has to do with chord progressions? If you want to pick a fight there's a much easier way to do it.jute gyte wrote:This is ridiculous. Are gamelan orchestras, Sub-Saharan tribes, Aboriginal didgeroo players, etc, suck-ass musicians?

Saying someone who can't figure out chord progressions is a suck-ass musician is an insult to basically everyone who plays traditional non-European music. I would guess that it is also an insult to many drummers and vocalists. It's a ridiculous statement to make.
