I agree with Bill about the reviews. When I'm at work, I can't stream music but I can download it. It's easier for me to download a smaller fight and thus I'm more likely to review it. But that's just my situation.

I'm good with one title. I agree that if you're really going to do a song, you'll find an angle for the title. And why scatter everyone's attention in different directions with more than one title?

I mean, Leaf's attention span is scattered enough already. Why make it worse?

Just a thought:

Why not regular oscillations? They're every 10 days or so right? so each month has the 3 song fight, then the 2 song fight, then the Singular. Gives us all a chance to anticipate.

Ultimately, please do what you please Fight Masters!

I like the single title fights, but I think it's a good idea to mix it up some times and have >1 title when the FMs feel like it. I wound up not usually having enough time to listen to all of the songs in all of the fights when there were 2+ titles. Nowadays I can listen to all of the songs. Part of why multiple titles resulted in more songs was because of people entering multiple fights. I did it a couple times, too, but with totally different projects. Still, (this part is obviously just my unsubstantiated opinion) many of the people who can enter multiple fights at once regularly are not making stuff that I enjoy at all, it just feels like throwaway music with little effort behind it. And who needs that? There's already too much of that in the single title fights...

This is not dissing on my [considered] bro Jack, who is a star - but Jack - in the last year, regardless of number of fights, how many fights you fought in? 2, by my countin'. 2 good songs, but really, this [to me] exemplifies the number of people a'shoutin' for one fight - people who just don't fight one, two, three or eleven.

I would, and will fight when there is more than one title. I did for eleven. If I'm entirely honest, I have fought once in collab in the one-fight system. My point being it's very well for people like Jack and Hip Cola to turn up and big up the one fight system, but they never fought that much, regardless. Not dissing them in any way, but just trying to put their stance into persepective, right? I fought something like 110, pretty much in a row, during the multi-fight period, and I am not asking anyone to turn a blind eye ....

I voted for "one" - but I really can't disagree with Niveous' beautifully succinct argument above. He may have hit the nail on the head.

BTW: has anyone done the sums and worked out, on average, which number of songs garners the most total participants each week? The best answer may lie there.

Agreed, except for me...

a) the most number of good songs <> the most number of entrants.

b) a single fight friend-flooded < one of two or three fights friend-flooded. Which is where this thread started.

Just my opinion, of course.

Frank, my good man, your name and opinion about things comes up more often than anyone's (other than jb's and my own) when making decisions about the site. Your valuable input (along with dr. worm's) is one of the main reasons we have the one-fight format running right now. Now you know who to blame, people. How many times has it brought you out of the woodwork since we went back to it? With this in mind, are you really saying we shouldn't at least keep our ear to the ground?

I voted for three.

I really liked having the choice and could usually find a title that appealed to me. I can get myself to write something for the one title that gets posted but I am more motivated if it is a title that I like.

Not offended by your suggestion Johnny, but are you suggesting that your recollection of fights participated in, or even anyone with less fights than you, somehow gives less weight to their vote? That seems, I dunno..disappointing. For the record, I'm not as prolific as you are, and it has nothing to do with the number of titles, and everything to do with the rest of my life's business. However:

11 fights with redcar,
5 as thehipcola (with TT and Henly incl.),
1 with Hedefine (Jack and Leaf),
9 with Gert,
4 with Draft
1 with HumboldtHead
4 that come to mind under other names, or with other people.

Not including sidefights and fun stuff either. I'm not in your or Jack's league, but a bit like Jack, I'm not talking out of my ass either....

(There's a joke about quality vs quantity here somewhere too, but that's for another thread...) Really, I'm happy, like your post count, your fight count is astronomically high ...but dont' suggest it ought to make you more important than anyone else around here as we chime in with our thoughts on the fight system.

johnny said he wasn't trying to diss me so i didn't take it that way. i think he was just being a drama queen. or drunk. or both

johnny, i really don't get your argument, but if you're going to be pigheaded about sitting out until there are multiple fights, then we all lose the beauty of your music which is a shame.

really, i can't understand why people have such an issue with one fight. if you don't like the title, don't enter. the community at large isn't waiting with anticipation and baited breath for your next songfight entry! write a song for a title you like, or made up, just for the hell of it!

but it's called Songfight! one.

nur ein! make the win meaningful again! make the reviews more focused and on point! all this nonsense about spreading it out with options for titles and smaller fights mean more reviews is just nonsense. it hasn't happened. it's diluted the equity if you ask me.

take pride in the fucking past. 1 fight.

I didn't mean offence at all. I was just observing that two of the people who were taking the 'one fight' side were two people I wished fought more because they bring good music to songfight, which is what it's all about.

Clearly it came across as a diss, which it wasn't intended as. I didn't mean 'you don't know what you talkin' about cos you haven't produced 100+ songs'!!!! Although in retrospect I see that it could be read that way.

I'll make this clear as I can: I am all about the quality not the quantity. I want to see multiple fights because a)smaller fights make reviewing easier for me. Small bites at the cherry so to speak. b)Smaller fights make listening less of a chore for me, and I am more likely to listen to a small fight than a large one, as I don't like to cherry-pick songs by people I know. c) More titles are sexier than one.

So sorry for confusion, especially as I wasn't even drunk. Like THC said elsewhere, my rubbish posting is preferable to my rubbish songs, something I am in total agreement with
