He age isn't the problem - yours is. Young chicks dig old guys. The thickened waistline, the receded hairline - it all says 'POWER'! The ladies can't get enough of it. As men get older - their pheromones increase on potency, so they start to literally ooze sensuality. Wait another 10 or 15 years - then go for it.

Rone, she is only missing a third of your age.
Or: you are only half again older than her.
I'd call it maybe a bad idea, but probably not regrettably bad.

Go for some dates, til' the wrongness asserts itself, but DO NOT IMPREGNATE.

Listen to Phil, he's in Pre-Law.

hang on, you're 27? My opinion is you really ought to be able to tell by the age of 27 if a woman likes you or not, and if you can't, it's because she doesn't. And if she doesn't like you it doesn't matter if she's 18 or 80 ...

Sorry if this sounds a bit mean but based on your lovelife described in previous threads, you might want to give yourself a break from more heartbreak for a while .... the line between

if i was an 18 year old hottie and a 27 year old local grocery engineer that stares at me alot wanted to add me to their friends list on myspace, i'd set my profile to private pretty damn quick. sorry dude. truth hurts. you got no car. you got no cred. you got no flow. in your case, your age isn't working for you, it's working against you.

but you got perseverence. and a thick skin. which might be useful when her dad comes after you.

i think you should watch ghost world dude.

Seriously. First you MOVE to another city and get yourself in such a ridiculous situation that your parents might have well thrown a fundraiser to get you back and NOW you are asking, on a messageboard, whether or not you, as a 27 year old grocery boy have any hope to bag the cashier instead of the groceries... DUDE. WE need photos if were going to determine this for you.

Post photos of her. No one can POSSIBLY help a 27 year old MAN decide if he has what it takes to get a hot 18 year old highschool GIRL to date him with out a visual.

Photos. One of you, one of her. IT IS THE ONLY WAY the universe will ever stay in flux. I'm making no sense but having fun.

It might be, it totally depends on a billion variables. Does she like you, does she tend toward older men, does she have a boyfriend, does she have someone she's interested in, does she think you're physically attractive, what is she doing after high school, will her father kill you, will her friends make fun of her, has she been in a relationship before, etc.

And honestly, I'm friends with plenty of people on MySpace, I don't think "Oh, well they're 27, I better not be MySpace friends with them!" It's really not a huge indication of "acceptance".

Do what you feel is right. If things click, go for it. Personally(and remember I'm probably only one year younger than her), I wouldn't go out with a 27 or older guy (unless they were along the lines of Hugh Jackman, John Krasinski, Jason Mraz, etc :P). Up into college would probably be fine, but older than 22/23, for me, would push it into the creepy zone. (Of course this changes as you get older, a 16 year old and a 22 year old is kinda weird, yet a 26 year old and a 32 year old is not) But it's all down to the two individuals.

So you wait til you hear an answer that this more or less positive, say that's all you need and ask for the thread to be locked. It sounds like you were just waiting for someone to give you the go ahead. But before you go, allow me to say.....you've just left a crazy relationship and you're thinking about pursuing a new one that's just as crazy. Do yourself a favor and wait.

listen to Mr C, he's always been a big hit with the ladies. Time and again I've received an email regaling me of his latest exploit with the opposite sex. And I'm all like, "Dude, tell me about cocks or shut uuuuup..."

If your 27 and have no idea, I'd just claim for compo and be done with it. You were obviously subjected to severe psycological trauma as a young'n, and you are fucked up for life.

I say Bjam's official title become 'Fucking Sage'.

Like Bjam implied, age differences operate on a sliding scale. The older you get, the less difference the same number of years makes.

I stand by my initial assessment, and in any case you should keep your heart aching with doubt and insecurity and use that to work on your songwriting. Usually works for me. Of course, I'm a miserable, lonely old man. But I wrote a lot of songs last month.

Yes, you said you were going to be cautious. I didn't say anything about your cautious approach. I said do yourself a favor and wait.

There is a lot to be said for taking some time off after a big bad relationship. Who knows? This 18 year old fantasy girl could be a rebound that will turn ugly for the both of you. And after going through a relationship that included you changing states and investing so much of your life, you gotta ask yourself- is this the right time to jump into something new?

Just something to think about.
