I'd like to thank Rone for living up to every lower-class-white-male-from-Kansas stereotype in the book.

I think in Kansas, it's legal to marry first cousins. Hey, Noah had sex with his own daughters, and if it's good enough for Noah....

Seriously though, Rone. If you're looking for a meaningful, long-term relationship, you should take a pass on this gal. 18-year-olds are mostly about having fun and partying. At least normal ones are.

So I have been thinking about this far more than I probably should have. It's a lot more fun to crack jokes than be serious and I know Rone is probably not interested in advice that isn't "go for it dude!" but for some reason I'm going on anyway. Probably I need more hobbies.

Here are some things you (by which I mean Rone) need to seriously think about. I have tried hard to confine this to thoughts that are useful and not insulting and I hope you will give them some consideration.

* Eighteen-year-olds are hot. That's just how the universe works. Some are even fucking sages. But what you may not be aware of is that at age 28 they are even hotter. Give a nice girl a decade to mature, both physically and emotionally, and she is even awesomer. She's also had a lot of time to work on getting really good at kissing and stuff. Seriously, look into this.

* Her father will kill you. If he doesn't it is because he is a bad parent and you want to avoid the young ladies who come from screwed-up households. They invariably have issues.

* You need to reconsider your policy on automobiles. There are plenty of good reasons not to have a car but a driver's license is useful for other things, and unless you have a medical condition that makes it unsafe then you need to be able to drive. Even if it is only in emergencies.

* Dating is expensive. It sounds like you may not have a lot of spare disposable income at the moment, and maybe you are not really in a position to properly entertain a lady (of any age). Singleness can be a lonely thing (almost by definition!) but there are worse feelings, and one of them is knowing you can't afford to treat your sweetie to dinner and a movie once in a while.

* Dating a co-worker is always a bad idea, and not just because of the near certainty of messy post-breakup discomfort. It is true that there is a good chance that either (or both) of you will have moved on to other employ relatively soon and maybe you should wait for that to happen.

So yeah, I think you will be happier and healthier long-term if you don't pursue this gal but it's not my life and I won't really lose sleep either way. Do what you do; hope this all helped a little bit, though.

I desperately want to find out if Rone is really a pseudonym for someone like Erik or Blue or Des or Sven or ANYONE with a sense of humour.

Rone. YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE A 27 YEAR OLD MAN.

Time to fucking grow up dude. You are not in high school. High school for you is OVER. Stop living in a fantasy world; start living in the real world.

I mean, c'mon. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is ask her to coffee or lunch or whatever. she says yes... you hang out, find out if you click, go from there. She says no, you look elsewhere. THAT IS THE PROCESS. It isn't' fucking hard. Jesus. you're 27 and you want to know if the age gap matters??? HEEEELLOOOOO!!!! You already know this man, or you wouldn't ask. life lesson #1: YOU ALREADY KNOW.
Walk up, say, "hey, wanna hang out sometime, you and me, get some lunch or coffee, (oh! oh! throw this in, it's gold!!1) MY TREAT". Fuck man. she says "yes", she's interested. She says "no" she ISN'T. she says "maybe, then she thinks you have potential but are clearly not ready for her 18 year old hotness yet.

MYSPACE???? Give me a fucking break. If I add "Bjam" on face book does that mean we're supposed to get it on and do the nasty at Songfight Oz???

*ok... I see you're point. Resume.

Dude, don't you mean "humor"? Oh wait. No. I've seen Rone's myspace, he's not any of those guys. Keep guessing.

Oh and by the way, that thing Leaf mentioned about myspace? I was just wondering if Mrs. Leaf would be into it. Just sayin'. I just want to have some good dreams in the morning's half-awakeness, ok? Is that too much to ask?

Ah! I'm glad someone brought this up. I'd say the "we work together" is potentially a bigger pitfall than the "she's quite a bit younger than me."

Remember you'll have to see and work with this person every day.

As a gal, I don't so much mind lecherous old farts hitting on me, (I'd wager most women are pretty used to that kind of attention) but I REALLY don't want people I work with every day hitting on me. I felt this way even when single.

While my last girlfriend wasn't 18...we still had the exact same amount of years between us..and as JB said...those years don't mean AS much.

The relationship went pretty much as I expected it would. Which is ok. I got taken advantage of financially... or did I?

As someone else pointed out, you just came from an akward relationship. If it's uncertainty and drama that you turns you on, then go for it. Just don't expect everyone here or around you to be suprised and sympathetic when this course runs its probability. :-)

Otherwise, go for it.

Cause he's got to go... in a few minutes.

Otherwise he clearly doesn't know to spell.

When I was 25 I did date a girl who was 19. Not exactly the same but not that different either. It was kinda weird because we were in totally different places in life. Also when we went out she couldn't drink ;) Anyway we dated for a while then she moved to Arkansas and never contacted me again... perhaps there was some maturity issue there.
Does that help? Probably not. But anyway.

Rone Rivendale wrote:Yeah okie, I'm gonna go ahead and not post her picture. Out of respect to her.

Umm. You've devoted an entire thread to whether or not you should date her... identified her as a co-worker, and her job position, age, told us that she has a myspace page... and from how hard you flog your ego on these boards, if you are in fact a real person (and man, that's debatable on so many levels it's actually interesting) I find it hard to believe you aren't going to tell her that you are the one and only Rone Rivendale.

first, assuming for a moment that you meet your "hopeless romantic" ideal, and you two become an item, what if she discovers this thread over the course of falling in love with you and sees this? What will you do?

Secondly, you are concerned about giving her "respect" yet you....ummm... started this thread?

Thirdly...just pm me her Myspace URL. I am here to help.

*please don't lock this thread. It should be the poster child for accountability.

Yeah, right, 'cos now that you've got whatever the fuck it is you wanted out of whatever the fuck this is, no-one else should be able to continue the discussion in whatever direction they choose.

Selfish wanker. It's all about you, Rone, isn't it? Always about the Rone.

Neither have we said anything negative about her. It is you that we are painting. You are being judged by your words, so start thinking before you choose them. They are making you look seriously bad here.

There is zero chance that this thread will be locked just because you want people to stop telling you facts that you would like to ignore. Here is a question to think about. Imagine this gal of yours did find this thread, for some reason. What do you think she'd say about it? How do you think the words that you have said would affect her opinion of you?

Assuming she'll reply/add you as a friend, we can make an educated guess as to which one she is, providing we follow your myspace profile for a while.

Personally, I don't give a flying fuck, and would not engage in such stalker-ish behaviour myself, but for those of us who are up to such activities...

I guess what I'm trying to say is this: You are not a very bright person, Mike. You give us reasons to pick on you, as well as all the information we need to pick on you. You seem like a super-nice guy, and I've never seen you say a bad thing about anyone here, or even retaliate when provoked, so I almost feel bad picking on you, but you're a xtian fundy hick from Kansas, so it balances out.

well, your myspace page is pretty easy to find so i won't post a link to it. let's just say it's pretty obvious as to what the URL is.

that said, you're definitely real. maybe too real.

while i was going to suggest taking this discussion out of the forum and onto your myspace page with comments from your friends at songfight's opinion on what you should do about the cute lolita at piggly-wiggly, i now realize what a hopelessy easy target that would be. and i'd feel pretty shitty for it.

good luck man. life is about the journey and not the destination, so carpe diem and get that 18 year old sweetie if it's there for the pickin.

i really can't poke fun at you anymore.
