Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

I once belonged to a health club. The Seattle Athletic Club. Really. I played squash there. I even took lessons from the squash pro and participated in club tournaments. One day, after taking lessons for about six months, I showed up for my lesson only to find out that the squash pro had been let go. That morning. No warning. Seems the club had bought out a local squash club, and had taken on their members and their pro. Not only was my lesson canceled, but all court reservations had been wiped clean and signed up for by the new members, who apparently knew this was coming, even thought we, the members of the purchasing club, had been giving no warning. All existing squash events were canceled and replaced with new ones, which somehow got filled quickly by all the new members.

I boycotted by not going to that club for about seven years. I continued to pay my dues, but I just didn't go.

Boy, I'll bet that hurt them. I haven't played squash since.

How is everyone doing today? I'm having a surprisingly good day for a Monday. I woke up with my usual hate for the world but it ebbed away after a really cool moment I had when writing my novel. I found myself at a point in my novel where I saw a lot of myself in my main character. It's a hard moment to explain. But it was good nonetheless.

Do you think boycotts ever really work?
Boy Cots, only if they are used when there is nowhere else to sleep.

I was sitting at my desk earlier today and a lizard flew out of nowhere and landed next to me.

Actually...that is kind of neat. I'm just bein' a jerk. Every once and a while my cats will dart into the window area of my apartment and go crazy if one happens to be crawling the screen a few inches from them.

Way back when I lived in Berkeley, the tellers at Bank of America were out on strike, so in sympathy, I went as long as I could without taking out any money (yeah, nevermind that my paychecks were being auto-deposited, so what I was really doing was giving BoA, the presumed bad guys, more of my money to play with). I finally ran out of food in the house and hadda go get some money from the ATM to get some groceries, but, y'know, solidarity with the workers, man...

If you recall my "arch-enemy" posting from a while back... when that new minister came to our church, one of the things she decided she was going to do was to do communion every Sunday (rather than once a month, as we had been doing it). So once I decided that I wanted to do something to make some sort of a statement, I started boycotting communion, only going up to take it on the first Sunday of the month. I know she noticed...

I guess j$ is boycotting songfight right now to try to get back to more than one title a week... maybe the number of entries this week will help the cause... in the meantime, I think I have caught up with him in the number of entries sort, although Melvin passed us both on the inside while we were dicing for position...

Anyway, I think I'm going to boycott the QotD for a while. It used to inspire me, but lately I've been feeling like there are more days when I don't write anything 'cause the QotD does nothing for me than days when I write to answer the QotD. So, y'know, my own little rebellion.

Please mean "incorrectly" Marcus. Please. Was in a meeting with the manager of the plant and he used that word. Being not so politic, I asked him if he was "fucking stupid, because he sounded it" I'd think I was an idiot for speaking my mind if I'd just get fired for doing so, heh.

Boycotts work when they achieve media saturation, esp. on a slow news day when that's the "big" story... /opinion

It's nice to be home. For anyone playing at home, the honeymoon room was the Edgar Allan Poe room (re: a few days ago). Too bad the pendulum wasn't working, heh.
